About me and my therapy practice
I'm Ellen and Person Centred Counsellor and Supervisor. I have been a Counsellor for 11 years. I have experience and interest of working with anxiety, depression and OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). I have 12 years of extensive experience of working with people with Autism. I have worked in charities in the social care sector for more than ten years. I have also worked in a University Student Counselling service for over five years.
My approach:
Throughout my career, I have chosen to work in either Person Centred and Holistic environments/projects. This has given me a strong understanding and foundation in the Person-Centred approach and an appreciation for individuality and the need for different approaches.
I aim to provide a safe space where you can bring any issue in your life. I’m a visual person so I use visualisation, metaphor to enable me to communicate my understanding of your world/feelings/thoughts during sessions.
I became a Counsellor because therapy has helped me a lot in my life by enabling me to anchor my emotions, take control of my anxiety and giving me the space to rummage through my thoughts. So I hope to offer a similar space in which clients can pause from their outside life.
I’m a warm, passionate and friendly person I am used to working with lots of different people and I make connections very quickly.
Practice description
Please do get in touch by emailing me.
I offer a reduced rate first Counselling session £30 per hour (50 mins).
Then following this - £60 per Counselling session. (50 mins)
Individual circumstances can be discussed.
Frequency:
I do short and long term work and I am willing to negotiate what you need from me and work together to find a number of sessions or therapy journey that’s right for you.
My first session
Although I offer a reduced rate for first session it is a full therapy session. In the first session I will explain how therapy works. This session is also really a time for me to get to know about why you have come to therapy. You can also ask my questions about therapy.
I am keen on doing informal reviews throughout the therapy journey so clients and myself are able to take stock. Its a pause outside of the therapeutic journey where you can give feedback and discuss how the journey is going. The regularity of reviews can be agreed together but this is usually every 12 sessions or in shorter term work every 6 sessions. I usually work weekly but can discuss alternatives.

About me and my therapy practice
Ellen Williams, (MÍø±¬ÃÅ) Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Supervisor. I am looking to connect with fellow counsellors to offer supervision.
I have been a Counsellor for 11 years. I'm Person Centred and I work in my private practise based in Edinburgh working online or in person in a wellness space in the city centre.
Practice description
Counselling experience:
In my client work I have extensive experience of working with neurodiverse people, primarily Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC). I also have an interest in working with OCD, anxiety and depression. I have previously worked for over 5 years in a university counselling service. Before becoming a Counsellor I worked for 10+ years as a Team Leader/Support Worker in outreach and supported living projects in care support services. I would like to share these experiences with supervisees.
Supervision:
I have found supervision vital, sustaining and challenging and I hope to support supervisees to explore their work in a trusting and open way. I have faced and overcome challenges in my career and jobs as a dyslexic person which I think will be very helpful in supporting others dealing with these issues directly and indirectly.
I see supervision as a expansive space where we try to look at your client work from every angle and also you as a Therapist within this.
My first session
I also offer an initial consultation supervision session face to face or online via Doxy. I use a room in the centre of Edinburgh for face to face sessions. This is so we can have a full session, where you can ask about my way of working/approach etc and also we would have time for you to bring clients and see if we are a good fit to work together. This session is offered at a reduced rate.
Initial session:
After our initial session I will send you a counselling contract to sign which gives more details on our supervision agreement, rates and how I work if we are going to work together in the future.
Our first session is a space where you can ask questions, discuss why you became a Counsellor? what you would like to get from supervision? I also will ask if there are any adaptations you need to get the most out of supervision e.g do you want to write notes/do you want resources emailed to you/room adjustments etc.
Please do get in touch- Thank you!
