About me and my therapy practice
About me and my Therapy Practice
Hello,
I’m Christina and I qualified in Therapeutic Counselling in 1999, ‘therapeutic’ meaning ‘restorative to health and wellbeing’. I have a wealth of life experience gathered along my personal journey of understanding what has made me the person I am, and I offer a high quality of care to help you also understand why sometimes you may feel down, anxious or that in some way you are not coping with life as well as you could be.
I have a person-centred approach to therapy, valuing all you bring. I have experience also in brief, solution focused therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy that can help with changing unwanted patterns of behaviour. When appropriate I use the Body Life Skills approach for lasting behaviour change, see this link to the FABIC clinic that supports me in this work:
https://www.fabic.com.au/about-us/fabic-stands-for/
I have learned that our daily life and movements, and a deep connection to our own bodies helps with our physical and mental health. Therapy also takes place in daily life, and I will be encouraging your daily involvement in your own recovery.
Together we will be looking at your movements and posture and our awareness around this together with subtle changes can help to shift unwanted thoughts and feelings. It is expected that you actively engage with this aspect of your therapy, thereby supporting your whole being.
Some of the things I can help with:
Anxiety, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, stress, anger management, controlling behaviour, depression, sadness, loss and grief, bereavement, abuse.
I look forward to meeting you.
Christina Hooper MA, MÍø±¬ÃÅ.

Practice description

We have more to offer to others. Therapy takes place in daily life and I will be encouraging you daily involvement in your own recovery.
Together we will look at your movements and posture and how subtle changes can help shift unwanted thoughts and emotions. It is expected that you actively engage with this aspect of your therapy, thereby supporting your whole being.
