About me and my therapy practice
Welcome,
I’m a specialist counsellor with over 10 years’ experience supporting those who work in demanding and high-pressure roles, particularly within the emergency services.
My background as a Counselling & Wellbeing Manager within policing has given me a deep understanding of workplace wellbeing, resilience, and the importance of proactive mental health care.
I’ve had the privilege of working with blue light employees* from policing, ambulance, and air-ambulance services, and I understand something of the unique challenges and emotional impact these professions can bring. This is not only to you as the employee but your wider support network too such as friends and family members.
*20% discount rate for Blue Light employees (evidence required)
Alongside my counselling work, I’m also a Clinical Supervisor, supporting other counsellors in their professional growth.
How I offer my service:
My aim is to meet you where you are, offering a safe and nurturing environment, to work together on your goals. I acknowledge how much courage it takes to attend counselling and I deeply respect the privileged role I have in being given the opportunity to support you.

My first session
Assessment - Feeling Nervous or Anxious?
It is very common to feel worried about talking to a counsellor if you believe that you have to talk about a traumatic incident in full detail. , I ask a few basic YES / NO questions in respect of a trauma (s), plus some history taking.
I need to establish whether I can support you within my skill set and for you to decide if you feel comfortable talking to me.
I offer a range of therapy interventions tailored to each individual client but I place more importance on fostering an environment where you experience a safe, open, nurturing and trusting relationship.
I invite you to take some self-screenings for anxiety, depression and post traumatic stress. These do not provide a diagnosis but provide an indication about severity and the different therapy choices open to you.
Post-Assessment - what next?
After assessment, I provide clarity about my rationale for you selecting my service but I also encourage you to get a 2nd opinion and take your time over your decision making.
I offer 50 mins for Standard Talking Therapy
I offer 75 mins for EMDR
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR*), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy*), Person-centred and Psychodynamic therapy.
*Evidence based therapies recommended by NHS
I offer both time-limited therapy (where a goal is agreed) or longer term or open ended.
If you have any concerns about your mental health then you should consult your GP, who continues to have duty of care whilst you are accessing private counselling.
Please note that dependent upon complexity and how emotional you may feel during the assessment it is sometimes necessary to attend a 2nd assessment before I can make a recommendation.

About me and my therapy practice
About me in the Supervisor Role:
I am a newly qualified integrative supervisor (2025) with experience of supporting both qualified counsellors and trainees in person and online. My highest qualification is a BA (Hons) in Integrative Counselling.
An overview of my private practice:
Currently I run my private practice focused on blue light employees offering integrative counselling (EMDR, CBT, psychodynamic and person-centred) for presentations that include anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder (work or personal potentially traumatic exposure). I have supported many clients with workplace grievance or professional investigation processes due to bullying, harassment or alleged misconduct.
My experience draws on roles within EAP, a bereavement service, education and policing, where with the latter, I am a former Manager and Lead Training Facilitator within an employee counselling service.
I highly value the support in supervision and choose to be supported by two supervisors, an EMDR consultant / Psychologist and a Senior Psychotherapist who help me with different aspects of my business. Over the years I have also participated in Business Coaching programmes so have good insights about marketing principles, niching, social media and networking (ethically).
Commitment to ongoing CPD:
I am working towards my EMDR accreditation. This enables me to hold a trauma informed reflective stance about your interactions with clients.
I am teaching counselling in further education. Teaching enhances my ability to recognise supervisees’ learning styles, adapt to developmental stages and provide constructive feedback. I am committed to non-shaming and inclusive approaches.
Practice description
What to expect from me?
My aim as your supervisor is to create a warm, collaborative and supportive relationship that places your clients’ clinical safety at the heart of our work.
I aim to offer a supervisory space that is both containing and developmental—where reflection, honesty, and professional growth can flourish.
I'd like to reduce the fear around applying theory to practice by adopting a stance of no rights or wrongs but that we can consider our work from many different perspectives. Naturally, there are times when a supervisor must offer clear guidance and follow up about the actions you will be taking - particularly in relation to safeguarding, ethical responsibilities or legal obligations.
While my approach is grounded in humanistic values and the way in which we communicate, I also take into consideration the UK medical model, recognising its influence on diagnosis, treatment planning and multidisciplinary collaboration.
From experience, I have faith in the benefits of working towards accreditation and continuing improvement in practice.
Together, we can:
explore your client work and therapeutic relationships from different perspectives to deepen understanding and enhance effectiveness
- reflect on your interventions, theoretical application, and decision-making to strengthen integrative practice
- use our supervisory relationship as a space for support and gentle challenge, encouraging self-awareness and development of your internal supervisor
- consider how wider systems—such as the UK medical model, ethics, and organisational or private practice contexts—influence your work
- identify learning and developmental needs, with exploration of relevant CPD opportunities
- prioritise your wellbeing through reflective discussion about self-care strategies to prevent burnout.
I underpin my supervision practice with the Hawkins & Shohet’s (2012) Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision.

I offer an introductory 60 minute session online or in person to establish whether we are a good fit, to explore your current experience level and your development goals.
