About me and my therapy practice
I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for support, and I recognise the courage it takes to take that first step. My practice offers a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space where you are encouraged to be yourself and explore whatever may be troubling you. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply in need of someone to talk to, I offer a calm and compassionate environment to help you navigate life’s challenges.
I am a Íø±¬ÃÅ Accredited Counsellor with over 18 years of experience working with both adults and children. My specialism lies in supporting individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence, though my work spans a broad range of issues including anxiety, low self-esteem, life transitions, and trauma.
My core approach is person-centred, which allows for a supportive and collaborative relationship where your voice remains at the centre of the work. I integrate other therapeutic methods where appropriate, tailoring my approach to meet your unique needs. Building strong, trusting relationships with my clients is fundamental to how I work, and I bring empathy, honesty, and care to every session.
My aim is to support you in reconnecting with your own inner strength, sense of self, and emotional resilience. I believe in the capacity for change and healing, and together we can work towards clarity, confidence, and renewed wellbeing.
Practice description
With 18 years of experience as a counsellor, I offer a calm, compassionate, and grounded space where you can feel heard without judgement. My approach is integrative, meaning I draw from a range of therapeutic models tailored to your individual needs. I believe in working collaboratively — you are the expert of your own experience, and my role is to support you in gaining clarity, confidence, and emotional understanding.
Clients often come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to begin. Whether you're facing anxiety, relationship difficulties, bereavement, low self-esteem, work stress, or major life transitions, I provide a safe and supportive space for you to explore what’s going on for you at your own pace.
My practice is rooted in honesty, respect, and empathy. I value the trust that is built in the therapeutic relationship and understand how important it is to feel comfortable and supported. I also bring a culturally sensitive lens to my work, welcoming clients from all backgrounds and walks of life.
You can expect sessions to be thoughtful, reflective, and attuned to both your emotional and practical needs. Over time, clients often report a stronger sense of self, improved coping strategies, and a greater ability to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and awareness.
If you're unsure whether counselling is right for you, I’m happy to have a short conversation before we begin to help you decide if we’d be a good fit.
My first session
Our first session is a gentle introduction — a chance for us to meet, get to know each other, and decide whether we feel comfortable working together. I will explain how I work, including the therapeutic models I draw upon, my professional background, and what you can expect from the counselling process.
This initial session is also your opportunity to share what has brought you to therapy. We’ll explore what support you’re looking for, what your expectations are, and what you hope to gain from the work. We’ll complete a collaborative assessment covering important areas such as your presenting concerns, emotional and physical wellbeing, support network, coping strategies, and GP details (in line with ethical and safeguarding requirements).
The assessment also gives me a fuller picture of your current situation so we can begin to shape therapy in a way that feels useful and appropriate to you.
There’s no pressure to go into detail straight away — the pace is always led by you. It’s perfectly okay to simply explore whether this space feels safe and supportive enough to continue. I aim to create an environment where you feel respected, heard, and free to speak openly.
I do not charge a different rate for the first session, and there’s no obligation to continue beyond it if you feel it’s not the right fit. This session is about beginning the conversation and giving you space to decide what you need next.

About me and my therapy practice
Supervision is perhaps the most important component in the development of a competent practitioner. It is within the context of supervision that you can begin to develop a sense of your professional identity and to examine your own beliefs and attitude regarding clients and therapy. A good counsellor will be fully aware of his or her own values, beliefs, attitudes and biases; being aware of them lessens the danger of their impacting negatively on the counselling relationship. We all operate within a personal belief system, but as counsellors, we need to remember always to work with their clients in a way which is consistent with the client's values, not our own.
As Counsellors we will be challenged by many ethical dilemmas along the way and the correct path is not always clearly marked; discussing these issues with a supervisor will ensure that professional ethical standards are maintained.
Whatever the difficulties, however, I believe that good professional supervision is a necessity for all counsellors, for learning, for debriefing, for self-development. I also believe that our clients have a right to expect that we do undertake ongoing professional development at all levels, remaining up to date and aware of new trends.
There are many reasons to be proactive in getting supervision for ourselves. First, supervision is a central form of support, where we can focus on our own difficulties as a worker as well as have our supervisor share some of the responsibility for our work with the clients. Second, supervision forms part of our continual learning and development as workers, including eventually helping us to learn how to be supervisors.
As a supervisor I can also help you to use your own resources better, manage your work load and challenge your ways of coping. If we are helping clients take more change of their own lives, it is essential that we are doing the same.
Practice description
I am currently working remotely due to Covid-19 to ensure safety for both myself and my clients. All sessions are conducted via Zoom or Skype, recorded for monitoring purposes and stored with a safe encrypted password.
My first session
All sessions are 1.5 hours duration as in accordance to the Íø±¬ÃÅ framework. The supervision will be confidential with the usual exceptions e.g, risk to self or clients.
The first session will include the supervisor/supervisee contract. This session will also explore your expectations from me and what your purpose, goals and objectives you are hoping to gain from supervision. We will explore who your clients are, which theory you are applying and look at ways of supporting you with your work and further self development.
