About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to my page. I am Laura, a bilingual therapist providing online therapy to English and Italian speaking clients. I am Italian but trained and have been working in the UK for 25 years.
I am a UKCP accredited Adult Psychotherapist and a Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years’ experience in offering psychological and therapeutic treatments for a wide range of emotional difficulties in a variety of clinical settings, including the NHS, residential care, employee assistant programmes and private practice. Through my work, I have gained a broad clinical experience across the life span, and working with all ages, has given me insights into a wide range of mental health difficulties.
I offer a safe a confidential space were difficulties and life challenges can be explored and work through regular sessions. I believe in a personalised approach, putting the relationships with the client at the centre of the therapeutic process.
I have been trained in several models of therapy and draw from the psychodynamic, the person-centre, and the humanistic and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) approaches. My integrative practice allows me to offer the type of intervention, or combinations of interventions that is most appropriate for the needs of each client.
Practice description
I offer short and long term therapy; which means therapy takes place over a period of weeks, months or years. Sessions last 50 minutes and are regular in order to provide consistent support and regularity.Although the frequency of sessions (once or twice a week) is agreed during our initial consultation, how long we work together depends on whether you need support just for a few sessions or to sort out a specific issue or instead want to look at things in more in-depth as well as you motivation and commitments.
Professional Memberships: Integrative Psychotherapist registered and accredited as a full member with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP); member of the British association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ) and a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Qualifications: MA in Psychotherapy & Counselling; Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling (ADIP), and a diploma in Clinical Psychodynamic Supervision; Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
My first session
Our first meeting is an initial consultation to look at how we might work together and decide if counselling is right for you. The consultation last 50 minutes and the fee is the same as for on-going sessions. There is no commitment to on-going sessions at this stage.
The aim of our first meeting is to focus on your concerns and what brings you to seek therapy; your background, current situation and what you hope to achieve from therapy. About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified supervisor with a Diploma in Supervision from the Society of Analytical Psychology (SAP). I offer clinical supervision for experienced and trainee counsellors and psychotherapists as well as consultative supervision for managers and health professionals.
I have experience of working within a variety of clinical settings, including the NHS, residential care, training institutions and private practice. Through my work, I have gained a broad clinical experience across the life span, and working with all ages, have given me insights into a wide range of mental health difficulties. Whilst my supervision training follows the psychodynamic approach, this is complemented by my integrative psychotherapy training allowing me to work with supervisees from diverse theoretical approaches.
In my supervisory work, I use a collaborative approach and believe that building a trusting working relationship is at the base of a positive supervision experience. It is my aim to provide a supportive and stimulating environment enabling supervisees to reflect on their clinical practice promoting both their learning and assisting them in their professional development.
Practice description
I offer online supervision. Frequency of our supervision meetings are arranged in our first consultation. Supervision meetings last 50 minutes and costs £70. Likewise therapy sessions, I aim to arrange a regular time for us to meet so to mantain consistency (same day and time).
