About me and my therapy practice
Life can be full of ups and downs. You might feel stressed, sad, or unsure about things. Maybe you're dealing with pressure from school/work, friends, or family, or you're feeling low and don't know why. You might be grieving someone or something you've lost, or just feeling like you're not yourself.
Whatever you're going through, I'm here to listen and support you.
How I Work
I believe that everyone has the strength inside them to handle tough times. Sometimes, it just helps to talk to someone who listens without judgment. Together, we can explore what's going on in your life and find ways to make things better.
I understand that past experiences, like being bullied or facing challenges at home or work, can affect how you feel now. It's okay to talk about these things, and we can work through them together.
I believe that there is always a good reason for our behaviour based on our life experience. I also know that sometimes we develop habits to protect ourselves, but they might not always help us feel better. We'll look at these together and find healthier ways to cope.
Practice description
What to Expect
In our sessions, we'll talk about what's important to you. You can share as much or as little as you like. We'll work at your pace, and I'll always respect your feelings and choices.
I use different approaches to help, like:
Mindfulness: learning to stay present and calm
Compassion Focused Therapy: Learning to treat yourself with kindness and understand how the brain works to keep us safe
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): understanding how thoughts affect feelings and actions
Solution-Focused Therapy: focusing on your strengths and finding practical steps forward
Trauma-Informed Care: being sensitive to past experiences and how they impact you now
Attachment Focused work: exploring how we get our needs met in relationship to others
I have a special interest in early trauma, self-esteem, and relationships, which often play central roles in personal struggles.
My Experience
I've been a counsellor for over 12 years, working with various organisations to support people through different challenges. These include Mersey-care, Third sector organisations working with Young People, with Parents and Infants, a Bereavement service and Drug and Alcohol Rehab services. Before this, I was a dancer and practiced Shiatsu massage, which taught me a lot about how our bodies and minds are connected.
I work with young people aged 14 and up, as well as adults of all ages.
Remember, reaching out for help is a brave step. I'm here to support you every step of the way.
