About me and my therapy practice
I'm Kathy, a qualified and experienced Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Coach. I have extensive experience working with young people—both in schools and private practice—supporting them with challenges such as exam stress, gender identity, neurodiversity, family changes, bullying, friendship issues and anxiety and low mood. In adult therapy, I support clients in making sense of relationship dynamics, managing emotional regulation, and processing past or present traumas and experiences, and I have a particular interest in neurodiversity.
I take an integrative approach to counselling, which means I draw on a range of therapeutic models to meet your unique needs. My work is collaborative and grounded in respect and compassion. Together, we explore current challenges, deepen your self-awareness, and gently uncover any patterns or barriers that may be holding you back.
I offer a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can explore the issues that may be weighing you down. Clients often share that they feel deeply listened to, genuinely cared for, and understood.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Macquarie University (Australia) and advanced training including:
Advanced Diploma in Integrative and Humanistic Counselling (CPPD)
Level IV Certificate in Counselling Children (Place2Be)
Diploma in Integrative Supervision (The Minster Centre)
PCE-CfD training (Metanoia)
NLP Practitioner (New Oceans NLP Academy)
Mindfulness training (British Mindfulness Institute)
Mindfulness is often integrated into my work, especially for clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, or bullying.
In addition to my private practice, I work in NHS-affiliated health centres and secondary schools, and I have a strong interest in neurodiversity. I run regular workshops around various wellbeing topics.
I adhere to the Íø±¬ÃÅ Ethical Framework, engage in regular supervision and CPD, and hold an Enhanced DBS certificate and full professional indemnity insurance.
Practice description
Sessions are available face-to-face, online via secure platforms such as MS Teams or Zoom, or by phone—whichever feels most comfortable for you. I understand that schedules sometimes change, and if you're unable to attend your usual time, I’ll do my best to offer an alternative session within the same week, provided I receive advance notice.
Individual Counselling and Psychotherapy
I offer one-to-one support for a wide range of issues—these may stem from a recent or past experience, or a situation you're coming to terms with. You might be navigating challenges such as work-related stress, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, family concerns, or bullying, and feel that counselling can support you.
Counselling for Young People
Young people often experience a wide range of emotions in response to challenges such as bereavement, sibling rivalry, bullying, self-harm, low self-esteem, gender identity, neurodiversity, friendship dynamics, confidence, school or exam stress, and family difficulties. They express themselves in many different ways—often not just through words. In my work, I use a variety of creative and age-appropriate tools to help young people feel safe, engage meaningfully, and express what’s troubling them in ways that feel natural to them.
A notice period of 48 hours is required to cancel sessions.
My first session
Once you’ve made contact, we can arrange a time for an initial or assessment session. This gives you the opportunity to talk about what has brought you to counselling and helps me gain a clearer understanding of your situation and the key issues you'd like to explore. You’ll also have the chance to ask any questions and learn more about how I work, so we can decide together whether it feels like the right fit. We think about the key issues you'd like to explore and what you would like to be different at the end of counselling. This is what we work towards and this will be reviewed at different stages of the counselling.

Availability
I am available for face-to-face, online or using phone supervision with trainee counsellors through to qualified and experienced counsellors. I also offer group supervision.
About me and my therapy practice
I hold a Diploma in Integrative Supervision from The Minster Centre. The training places particular emphasis on Shohet and Hawkins’ Seven-Eyed Model, which considers multiple aspects of the supervisory process, including the client’s experience, the therapeutic relationship, the therapist’s internal process, and the wider context. This model recognises how a therapist’s personal responses and experiences can influence their work and supports greater self-awareness in practice.
I have experience working with both trainee and qualified counsellors—individually and in group settings—across a range of placement and private practice contexts.
I am currently a registered and accredited member of the Íø±¬ÃÅ.
Practice description
My supervision style is integrative, drawing on a range of therapeutic modalities. At the heart of my approach is a collaborative and trusting relationship that encourages exploration of both conscious and unconscious processes. I tailor my support to your developmental stage and theoretical orientation—whether you're a trainee, newly qualified, or an experienced practitioner—offering a reflective space to grow in confidence, competence, and self-awareness.
I strive to create a safe, open environment where we can explore all aspects of your client work, the therapeutic relationship, and anything that may be creating barriers to progress. This includes what may be arising for your clients, as well as what may be emerging for you—professionally or personally. Supervision works best when approached with honesty, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. This openness supports not only your professional development but also your personal growth, helping you gain a broader, more restorative perspective.
Supervision is also a space to reflect on the integration of theory and practice. I may draw your attention to relevant articles, books, journals, or podcasts to support your development. We will also attend to ethical considerations and ensure that risk is assessed and managed appropriately at all times.
My aim is to encourage, support, and gently challenge you to reach your full potential—to be the best practitioner you can be. Through a strong supervisory alliance, we can explore how deeper or more difficult personal material may be influencing your client work, and when appropriate, I will invite reflection on how additional support, such as personal therapy, might be of benefit.
