About me and my therapy practice

I'm Kathy, a qualified and experienced therapist offering a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space to explore what may be weighing you down. I provide short-term, long-term, and open-ended counselling to young people and adults, face-to-face and online.

Whether you're facing anxiety, low mood, relationship issues, or feeling overwhelmed, I offer a confidential space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported.

Taking the first step can feel daunting, especially when life feels overwhelming. You may be dealing with something recent or struggling with unresolved issues from the past. Whatever it is, you don’t have to face it alone.

As an integrative therapist, I draw on a range of approaches to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your patterns, and what may be holding you back. Together, we work towards insight, growth, and meaningful change, finding a way of working that best suits you.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Macquarie University (Australia) and advanced training including:

Advanced Diploma in Integrative and Humanistic Counselling (CPPD)

Level IV Certificate in Counselling Children (Place2Be)

Diploma in Integrative Supervision (The Minster Centre)

PCE-CfD training (Metanoia)

NLP Practitioner (New Oceans NLP Academy)

Mindfulness training (British Mindfulness Institute)

Mindfulness is often integrated into my work, especially for clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, or bullying.

In addition to my private practice, I work in NHS-affiliated health centres and secondary schools, supporting a wide range of clients. I have a strong interest in neurodiversity and regularly run wellbeing workshops on topics such as friendship, resilience, bullying, and mental health.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your needs. I adhere to the Íø±¬ÃÅ Ethical Framework, engage in regular supervision and CPD, and hold an Enhanced DBS certificate and full professional indemnity insurance.

Practice description

Sessions are available face-to-face, online via secure platforms such as MS Teams or Zoom, or by phone—whichever feels most comfortable for you. I understand that schedules sometimes change, and if you're unable to attend your usual time, I’ll do my best to offer an alternative session within the same week, provided I receive advance notice.

Individual Counselling and Psychotherapy

I offer one-to-one support for a wide range of issues—these may stem from a recent experience, something from your past, or a situation you're currently coming to terms with. You might be navigating challenges such as work-related stress, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, family concerns, or bullying, and feel that counselling could offer the support you need.

Counselling for Young People

Young people often experience a wide range of emotions in response to challenges such as bereavement, sibling rivalry, bullying, self-harm, low self-esteem, gender identity, neurodiversity, friendship dynamics, confidence, school or exam stress, and family difficulties. They express themselves in many different ways—often not just through words. In my work, I use a variety of creative and age-appropriate tools to help young people feel safe, engage meaningfully, and express what’s troubling them in ways that feel natural to them.

Clinical Supervision

My approach to supervision is integrative, drawing on a range of therapeutic modalities. At its core is a trusting, collaborative relationship that supports exploration of both the conscious and unconscious processes at play. I tailor my approach to meet each supervisee’s developmental stage—whether you're a trainee, newly qualified, or an experienced practitioner—offering a supportive and reflective space to grow in confidence, competence, and insight.

A notice period of 48 hours notice is required to cancel supervision sessions.

My first session

Once you’ve made contact, we can arrange a time for an initial or assessment session. This gives you the opportunity to talk about what has brought you to counselling and helps me gain a clearer understanding of your situation and the key issues you'd like to explore. You’ll also have the chance to ask any questions and learn more about how I work, so we can decide together whether it feels like the right fit. We think about the key issues you'd like to explore and what you would like to be different at the end of counselling. This is what we work towards and this will be reviewed at different stages of the counselling.
