About me and my therapy practice
About Me and My Therapy Practice
I am a registered Íø±¬ÃÅ counsellor with over 15 years’ experience supporting individuals through some of life’s most difficult challenges. I am co-founder and lead counsellor at Life Change Changes Lives, a Northern Ireland-based charity dedicated to improving mental health and wellbeing within the community.
My practice is grounded in person-centred, one-to-one counselling, with a particular focus on addiction recovery, emotional trauma, and personal transformation. I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours at their own pace.
Through deep listening, empathy, and honest connection, I support individuals to build resilience, rediscover their self-worth, and make meaningful changes in their lives.
Practice description
I am a registered Íø±¬ÃÅ counsellor with over 15 years’ experience supporting individuals through a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. As co-founder and lead counsellor of the NI-based charity Life Change Changes Lives, I specialise in working one-to-one with adults using a person-centred, humanistic approach.
I offer a safe, non-judgemental, and confidential space where you are free to explore whatever is causing distress or holding you back. Whether you're facing anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, bereavement, or simply feeling lost or overwhelmed, I will work with you at your own pace, helping you feel heard and understood.
My approach is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and trust. I believe that lasting change begins when you are fully accepted as you are. My role is to walk alongside you, offering gentle guidance and support as you begin to make sense of your experiences, build self-awareness, and move toward the life you want to live.
Sessions are one-to-one and tailored to your individual needs. I have extensive experience in addiction recovery, emotional resilience, and trauma-informed care. Many clients come to me after struggling to find support that truly meets them where they are. My goal is to create a calm, compassionate space where you can be yourself and begin to heal.
If you're considering counselling, I welcome you to reach out and take that first step. You don’t have to face it alone.
My first session
What to Expect in Your First Session
Your first counselling session is a gentle introduction to the process, designed to help you feel at ease and decide if this is the right space for you.
During this session, I will invite you to share what has brought you to counselling, at your own pace. There is no pressure to go into detail right away — it’s about beginning to build trust, exploring what you’d like to get from therapy, and seeing how we can work together.
We’ll talk through practicalities such as confidentiality, session structure, and boundaries. I’ll also ask a few simple questions to help me understand your current situation, including any relevant mental health history, existing supports, or goals you may have. This is not a formal or clinical assessment — it’s a conversation led by you, and your comfort is my priority.
If you’re unsure what to say or where to start, that’s absolutely okay. Many people feel that way. Together, we’ll create a space that feels safe and supportive.
I do not charge a different rate for the first session. All sessions are currently offered at the same rate and last around 50 minutes.
If you decide after the first session that you’d like to continue, we can agree a regular time and go from there. If you choose not to continue, there is no obligation.
You are welcome to ask any questions you may have about counselling, my approach, or the process at any point — it’s important that you feel informed and supported every step of the way.
