About me and my therapy practice
I am aware that coming to counselling can feel a bit daughtning at times, and frequently when we have reached the point of accessing support, we can feel anxious and a bit overwhelmed with all the different profiles and whom to reach out to. My aim is to make the initial steps in seeking the support you need, be it that you are seeking individual counselling or as part of a couple, as reassuring as possible. I too have been the client at times in my life and so I have personal experience of seeking support.
I have been working with individuals and couples for over a decade, helping you navigate life's challenges, whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, stress, relationship issues, or a lack of self-confidence.
I offer a compassionate environment for you to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.
I believe that therapy is a journey of self-discovery and healing, and I am committed to walking alongside you through each step of that process. I approach every session with empathy, respect, and a deep understanding that everyone’s experience is unique. My aim is to help you gain insight, develop coping strategies, and ultimately find peace and clarity in your life and relationships.
When working with couples, I offer a space for you both to begin to work through communication struggles, trust issues, or emotional disconnection, helping you to rebuild your connection and strengthen your relationship.
There are also times when couples find themselves at a point where they are choosing to no longer continue in the relationship and are wanting to explore a way of separating in a held, loving and respectful manner.
If you feel that you would like to begin the therapeutic journey with me and step towards a stronger emotional well-being or healing in your relationship, please do get in touch in counsellingwithkirsti@gmail.com or 07422504578 I’m here to support you, and I look forward to meeting you soon.

Couples Counselling – Imago Relationship Therapy
As a certified Imago Relationship Therapist, I specialise in helping couples work through their challenges in their relationships to help form a deeper connection, form better communication and understanding. Imago therapy offers a new way of communicating with each other to begin to understand what might be going on underneath when when ruptures take place.
Through this approach, couples can gain insight into the unconscious patterns that influence their interactions, helping them break cycles of conflict and build stronger, more compassionate bonds.
In our sessions, I will guide you and your partner through a process of structured conversations that promote empathy, active listening, and mutual respect. Whether you’re dealing with recurring conflicts, trust issues, or emotional disconnection, Imago therapy offers powerful tools to reconnect, rebuild trust, and create a healthier, more fulfilling relationship.
If would like us to meet for an initial session so that you can meet me, get a sense of how I work and if I am the right relationship therapist for you, to help rediscover the love and connection you’ve been missing. My first session
What to Expect in Our First Initial Session
I understand that taking the first step toward counselling can feel daunting, and I want to make this process as gentle and reassuring as possible for you.
Once you have made contact with myself, we will then arrange a time for us to meet for an initial session. This can take place online or in person.
Within the initial session we will have the opportunity for us to meet, for you to get a sense of whether you feel comfortable speaking with me and to also let me know in more detail what it is that has brought you to counselling and what you are hoping to gain from counselling. For individuals an initial session is 30mins and for couples it is an hour.
There is absolutely no pressure to continue working together after our first meeting. The choice is yours. I believe that it is key to feel comfortable and empowered in whatever direction you choose to take.
If you do decide to continue, I typically suggest beginning with an initial block of 6 sessions. This gives us a chance to commit to the process, while still offering enough flexibility to adjust as needed. After our 6th session, we’ll take time to reflect on your progress and see if you feel like you’ve explored everything you need. Together, we’ll decide whether to continue or if we’ve reached a point where you’re ready to move forward on your own.
I’m here to support you every step of the way, and I look forward to the opportunity to work together, helping you move toward clarity, healing, and growth.

About me and my therapy practice
As a therapeutic supervisor, I believe supervision plays a vital role in your professional growth, offering a dedicated space for reflection, support, and development. My goal is to create a collaborative, safe environment where you can openly explore both your successes and the challenges you face in your practice. Together, we will work to enhance your clinical skills, deepen your understanding, and encourage your personal growth as a therapist.
I take a person-centered approach to supervision, ensuring that you feel heard, supported, and guided in your journey. My focus is on building a strong working alliance, one that provides both stability and consistency, while fostering a space where you can openly examine your work with clients and your ongoing development as a therapist.
I work in line with the Íø±¬ÃÅ Ethical Framework, incorporating these standards into our supervisory sessions to ensure the highest professional practices are maintained. This provides you with the assurance that you are receiving supervision that aligns with best practice, promoting both your professional competence and your clients' well-being.
Recognizing the uniqueness of each therapist, I respect and support your individual style and approach while also ensuring that our work together maintains the necessary professional boundaries. I value the diversity of approaches within the therapeutic field and aim to tailor our sessions to reflect your personal strengths and challenges.
With a Level 6 Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Supervision, I have been fortunate to learn from experts like Robin Shohet, whose work in supervision has greatly influenced my practice. Over the years, I have benefited from my own supervision, understanding firsthand how essential it is for personal and professional development. Through supervision, I aim to offer a space for you to grow and thrive, both as a practitioner and as an individual.
My first session
I offer an initial supervision session lasting 45 minutes, providing you with the opportunity to meet me and get a sense of how I work. All initial sessions are held online, primarily due to the shorter duration of the session and the flexibility that online sessions offer. Since the pandemic, I’ve found that online sessions provide convenience and allow for greater flexibility, though we can discuss your preference for in-person to online sessions during our meeting. I offer in person session from my practice room in Cheltenham.
The cost for the initial supervision session is £40.
