I approach every session with empathy, respect, and a deep understanding that everyone’s experience is unique. My aim is to help you gain insight, develop coping strategies, and ultimately find peace and clarity in your life and relationships.

My first session

What to expect in our first initial session

When you feel ready to take the first steps to making contact please contact me on counsellingwithkirsti@gmail.com or by phone at 07422504578.

Once you’ve decided to schedule your initial session, I will send you clear instructions and directions to ensure you can easily find me and feel at ease before we meet.

Our first session is an important opportunity for us to connect, and for you to get a sense of whether you feel comfortable speaking with me. Building a trusting, open, and supportive relationship is essential in therapy, and I want you to feel completely free to express yourself—whether you’re sharing your thoughts, feelings, concerns, or even uncertainties—without fear of judgment. This space is yours to explore, and my goal is to ensure you feel heard, accepted, and truly understood.

There is absolutely no pressure to continue working together after our first meeting. The choice is entirely yours, and I want you to feel confident in your decision. It’s important that you feel comfortable and empowered in whatever direction you choose to take.

If you do decide to continue, I typically suggest beginning with an initial block of 6 sessions. This gives us a chance to commit to the process, while still offering enough flexibility to adjust as needed. After our 6th session, we’ll take time to reflect on your progress and see if you feel like you’ve explored everything you need. Together, we’ll decide whether to continue or if we’ve reached a point where you’re ready to move forward on your own.

I’m here to support you every step of the way, and I look forward to the opportunity to work together, helping you move toward clarity, healing, and growth.

About me and my therapy practice

As a therapeutic supervisor, I believe supervision plays a vital role in your professional growth, offering a dedicated space for reflection, support, and development. My goal is to create a collaborative, safe environment where you can openly explore both your successes and the challenges you face in your practice. Together, we will work to enhance your clinical skills, deepen your understanding, and encourage your personal growth as a therapist.

I take a person-centered approach to supervision, ensuring that you feel heard, supported, and guided in your journey. My focus is on building a strong working alliance, one that provides both stability and consistency, while fostering a space where you can openly examine your work with clients and your ongoing development as a therapist.

I work in line with the Íø±¬ÃÅ Ethical Framework, incorporating these standards into our supervisory sessions to ensure the highest professional practices are maintained. This provides you with the assurance that you are receiving supervision that aligns with best practice, promoting both your professional competence and your clients' well-being.

Recognising the uniqueness of each therapist, I respect and support your individual style and approach while also ensuring that our work together maintains the necessary professional boundaries. I value the diversity of approaches within the therapeutic field and aim to tailor our sessions to reflect your personal strengths and challenges.

With a Level 6 Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Supervision, I have been fortunate to learn from experts like Robin Shohet, whose work in supervision has greatly influenced my practice. Over the years, I have benefited from my own supervision, understanding firsthand how essential it is for personal and professional development. Through supervision, I aim to offer a space for you to grow and thrive, both as a practitioner and as an individual.
