About me and my therapy practice
Are you outwardly functioning but looking for a way to feel less anxious and more confident about who you are, and what you want from life?
I offer short and longer-term therapy to help people manage anxiety and stress, overcome low mood, and boost confidence and self-esteem. I’m a therapist and coach working with evidence-based approaches – and I have personal experience that they work and can turn your life around! I know what it's like to struggle with perfectionism, anxiety and self-doubt while outwardly seeming successful. I believe that changing your relationship with yourself is the key to achieving peace of mind, and flourishing in all aspects of life, including relationships, career and physical health.
The heart of all the work I do is understanding how past events may be impacting current behaviour, experiences and relationships. We also work on changing the relationship you have with yourself by developing self-acceptance and self-compassion. I often use CBT and ACT-based approaches to shift unhelpful thinking patterns, and coaching to help you connect with your core values and personal strengths.
My training and qualifications cover human relationships and development, the influence of lifestyle on mental health, and how our thinking habits and core beliefs influence our self-image and experience of life. I am committed to ongoing training and personal development.
Before training as a therapist I had a long career in the media and still work as a freelance writer. Many of my clients come from the media and creative professions (but not all!)
Practice description
I work online with people all over the UK and internationally (by Zoom).

I work with individuals aged 21 and over who are functioning an sometimes feel OK but feel that life could be better, or who are seeking greater self-knowledge or understanding of why they feel or act in a certain way. I currently do not work with couples. If you are looking for help overcoming serious abuse, trauma or debilitating mental health conditions, or if you are actively suicidal, I would advise you to seek a specialist therapist.
My first session
Starting therapy with me usually looks like this:
1. Initial contact. Email or complete the contact form with brief details about you and why you are seeking therapy. I'll respond as quickly as I can and check whether you are able to attend (on a regular basis) any of the current sessions I have available. If you can, we'll arrange a...
2. FREE 15-minute telephone consultation. At the end of that call, I'll ask if you want to go ahead and book an assessment session (it's important to feel like you and your therapist are a good fit, so if your gut says no at this point, there is no obligation to carrry on). 3. Assessment session (£65 for 60 minutes). The aim of this session is to give me a better idea of whether my approach and skills may be of help for you, and to give you a chance to experience working with me. If you want to carry on, we will book:
4. First three sessions. These are bookable and payable in advance and cost £195 (3 x £65). We will carry on getting to know each other and clarifying what you want to focus on in our work together. At the end of the third session, we review how it's going - if three sessions are enough for you, that is OK.
5. Ongoing sessions. These are booked in blocks of five, payable in advance. If you ever can't make a session, I do my best to reschedule it, if there is availability, Most clients come for around 20 sessions, although some come for longer. We usually start off with weekly sessions but may decide to move to fortnightly once the work is underway.
