About me and my therapy practice

With over 30 years of experience as a psychotherapist working with both children and adults, I bring a depth of knowledge and compassion to my therapeutic work. I specialise in developmental trauma, complex trauma, and dissociation, offering a safe and supportive space for clients navigating these challenges.

My core approach is Integrative Therapy, which means I tailor my work to meet your individual needs. Whether through talking therapy, creative modalities, or body-focused techniques, I aim to support you in a way that feels most comfortable and meaningful for you.

I place particular emphasis on the connection between mind and body, helping clients explore and understand their felt experiences — including anxiety, fear, and physical pain — in a compassionate and embodied way.

Practice description

I run a small but busy private practice, where most sessions are delivered online through a secure platform. I am a down-to-earth and approachable therapist, and my neurodivergent identity, including living with ADHD, brings creativity and flexibility to my work. This helps me adapt to the diverse needs of the people I support. I am deeply committed to ensuring that those in therapy feel safe, understood, and supported both within and beyond the therapy space.

I welcome referrals for both children and adults seeking therapy. When working with children and young people, I collaborate closely with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure a joined-up and consistent package of care. I work with a wide range of issues but specialise in supporting those who have experienced complex developmental or relational trauma, including PTSD, C-PTSD, dissociation, and challenges within early attachment relationships. I also have particular expertise in working therapeutically with neurodivergent children, young people, and adults.

Over 25 years ago, I founded a thriving Therapy Centre in Northampton, employing both adult and child therapists to meet a wide range of therapeutic needs, with a particular focus on trauma work. Alongside my clinical practice, I have a long-standing passion for teaching and training. I have spent many years as a Senior Lecturer in Counselling at master’s level, and I continue to train both adult and child counsellors. I am also in the final stages of my PhD. My research and publications contribute to the fields of counselling and psychotherapy, and I regularly present at conferences and training events nationally and internationally. I also serve as Secretary for the European Society for Trauma and Dissociation.

About me and my therapy practice

I work predominantly online and bring over thirty years of experience as a psychotherapist for children, young people, and adults, as well as more than twenty years of experience as a clinical supervisor of counsellors and psychotherapists. During this time, I have supported practitioners working with clients across a wide range of issues, while developing a particular specialism in developmental trauma, complex trauma, and dissociation, including dissociative identity disorder.

Alongside general supervision, a core focus of my work and research is supporting therapists working with abuse in its many forms, including ritualistic abuse, mind control, and cult abuse.

My therapeutic approach is Integrative and creative, enabling me to adapt to the individual needs of each therapist I support. I draw on a range of techniques, from traditional talking therapy to creative methods, and with children, Play Therapy. I also pay close attention to the body and felt experiences such as anxiety, fear, and physical pain. I aim to create a safe and supportive supervisory space in which we can reflect on the work, process its impact, and identify areas for professional growth — always considering the emotional well-being of both the therapist and their clients.
