About me and my therapy practice
I have been working as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist for 12 years in private practice. I work from home in a separate office from my house. I am an Accredited member of the Íø±¬ÃÅ. I am also a BUPA and AVIVA approved therapist.
I am trained as a Person-Centred Counsellor which is an approach that I fully endorse since having my own Counselling of this type over 14 years ago. It is a space to share whatever is causing problems in life and to be heard and validated without judgement. This works by empowering the person and enabling them to gain confidence and the ability to make their own choices in life. Many people have nobody to talk to and some do have friends and family to help but they feel like they’re becoming a burden or don’t want to talk openly because the don’t want to cause upset.
I have helped many people in my time as a Counsellor which is extremely rewarding and issues I have worked with include: Anxiety, Depression, low self worth, Bereavement, abuse and relationship issues.
I work with clients from the age of 15 years on an individual basis or with Couples. I work Face to Face or remotely via video or telephone.
My fees are £50 for individual sessions with a discounted initial session of £30 and £65 for Couples.
Practice description
My practice is based in the village of Washbrook which is next to Copdock, a short distance from Ipswich. There is off road parking available. I work in a peaceful office which is completely separate from my house.
My first session
The initial session is reduced at £30 (individual sessions only). This increases to £50 for further sessions and Couples sessions are £65.
The first session is a chance to find out if the client is comfortable talking to me, as it’s very important to find the correct Counsellor. I would take time to explore what is going on for the client and if it’s a Couples session I would take a basic history.
It is then up to the client if they wish to continue with sessions and there is no pressure to decide this on the day. I generally recommend six sessions initially to see if the person feels some benefit and a review would be done on the sixth session.
