About me and my therapy practice
Life can present challenges and changes that can feel overwhelming and hard to deal with. Sometimes it is difficult to cope and events and life stages can make us feel differently about the world we inhabit or force us into situations that we struggle to be in. I believe that therapy can help to provide an opportunity to explore where you are and what troubles you, in an environment that is non-judgemental, safe and confidential.
Working through difficulties can be uncomfortable and challenging and insightful and fulfilling. Creating an honest and trusting relationship in a warm and secure environment is crucial to helping with whatever you bring to therapy and to allow you to feel respected and heard.
Clients have said that they have gained a sense of self-awareness through the counselling process, that has helped them to understand their difficulties. They have gained awareness of how sometimes past and present events or influences have shaped their view of themselves and others. The opportunity to talk through difficulties has allowed them to look at the possibilities of a better life for them and for those around them.
Counselling is an opportunity to review, heal and repair.
Practice description
Being an integrative therapist means that I can use different therapeutic approaches to the work.
For example, CBT (cognitive-behavioural therapy) might work if you have difficulties managing your thoughts and behaviours and would like to understand how these may be managed differently;
Psychodynamic - works well as an approach for relationship issues;
Person centred approach works well with trauma and historic or current abuse and bereavement;
Transpersonal works well if there are feelings of existential confusion and change.
I also combine coaching and counselling therapy sessions if there are specific concerns, eg, workplace issues, careers, relationships with a need to work towards specific goals.
Depending on what you bring as concerns to therapy we can work together to see what way works for you.
I offer in person therapy to individuals or couples in the Stanmore/North and North West London areas, as well as Bushey/Watford, all of which are in easy reach of my base in Stanmore.
On-line therapy via Zoom or What's App video available.
For most of the year I can offer walk and talk therapy sessions in Stanmore and Ruislip woodlands, subject to weather conditions.
Please get in touch if if you would like to know more about any type of therapy I have mentioned.
My first session
Our initial contact will be a short telephone call to get an idea of what you are looking for and if I might be the right person for you.
The first one hour session is an opportunity for us to meet and get a feel for the therapy process and see if we can work together. The choice is yours.
Prior to the first session I will send you a short questionnaire to ask for details about yourself and your thoughts on why you feel you are coming to therapy and what you want out of it. This will give you time to reflect on your own needs before we start the therapy process and some clients have reported back that it is therapeutic in itself. You will also receive a counselling agreement, which you do not need to sign, but will give you details of confidentiality and payments.

About me and my therapy practice
I have been practising as a Supervisor since 2016, having trained and qualified in Integrative and Transpersonal Supervision with the Psychosynthesis Trust.
I have extensive experience working with trainee counsellors in groups and individually and also see qualified counsellor/psychotherapists, on a fortnightly or monthly basis.
I have supervised designated safeguarding leads in secondary and primary education and currently work part-time as a group supervisor and trainer for a North London therapy agency.
Practice description
Having worked in Education, Hospital and Agency settings, as well as running a private practice for some 20 years, I have a broad understanding and knowledge of the complexities, constraints and requirements of these settings, particularly relevant for therapists in training.
My particular interest and experience in therapy is working with trauma, abuse and addiction. I have facilitated workshops on anxiety and domestic abuse and have attended training in suicide prevention skills.
My theoretical approach has, over the years, developed and adapted to suit client bases. Psychodynamic and relational - may seem contradictory - but are key practices I use in building relationships with clients, supervisees and trainee therapists.
I hope you will find me warm and approachable as I like to work collaboratively and collegially. I can also challenge and encourage my supervisees to be the best they can be, whilst working within the ethical framework of their practices and the environments in which they work in.
I look forward to meeting you.

Thereafter sessions can be fortnightly or monthly, depending on the number of clients you have and any requirements you might have externally, if you are in training.
