I am a professionally qualified, Íø±¬ÃÅ Accredited Counsellor currently offering online and in person therapy. I work with individual adults and offer a flexible, integrative approach tailored to your needs.
For over 10 years I have provided counselling within the Higher Education sector to a diverse population of students and staff presenting with a variety of issues. I am also a BUPA recognised counsellor with a particular interest in improving self-esteem, and helping others navigate change and challenge in careers, health and relationships. I have extensive experience of working with issues such as: Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Stress, Low self-esteem, Low self-confidence, Loneliness, Identity and Relationships.
I am trained in both Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centred Therapy and work integratively. Practice description
Why consider counselling?
Life presents challenges that can sometimes feel overwhelming and having an objective, non-judgemental professional to help make sense of these experiences can help. I can work with you to explore your thoughts and feelings, strengthen your internal resources and consider new strategies to help you manage your difficulties.
I believe that experiencing a trusting and purposeful therapeutic relationship is key to you getting the most out of your counselling. I care deeply about creating a space in which you feel listened to and safe to explore your inner world, so that together, we uncover the root of the issues you bring to therapy.
I aim to facilitate you finding a way forward, based on what is intrinsically important to you and addressing any obstacles to this. Working collaboratively and at your pace, I can help you gain clarity and self-awareness so that you might challenge any avoidance or unhelpful patterns, and make choices and decisions that nurture the meaningful life you want for yourself.
Taking the first step
I appreciate that taking the first step into counselling can be somewhat daunting. It is often helpful to start with an informal, no obligation, brief phone call to discuss what you would like to explore in therapy and to answer any questions you may have about the process. If you then decide you would like to proceed, we can book an appointment for your first counselling session.
My first session
The first counselling session is a chance to gain an understanding of the issues you face and what you might hope to achieve from therapy. It is also an opportunity for us to have a better sense of whether I am the right counsellor for you.
If I think I can help with the particular issues you bring, and you would like to proceed with further appointments, then we can agree a plan for further sessions tailored to your needs.
Ongoing sessions would be dedicated to helping you manage your difficulties and find appropriate ways to move forward and reach your desired outcomes. Sessions are usually held weekly but can be arranged to fit your personal requirements. Both brief and long-term therapy are options available to you. You may like to work with an open contract or arrange a fixed number of sessions.
