About me and my therapy practice

About Me

I am a warm, empathic and sensitive therapist with over 15 years of therapeutic experience. I work with children, young people, and women, offering a compassionate, non-judgmental space to explore life’s challenges and begin to heal – at your own pace. My aim is to help you to build your confidence, self-esteem and resilience, particularly at a time when you might be feeling vulnerable and struggling to cope.

I work from a Relational approach where the therapeutic relationship is central, considering our relationships, how we relate to ourselves and others. The therapeutic relationship provides a ‘safe base’ to explore difficulties. When we feel seen, heard, and accepted, healing and change becomes possible.

Training & Qualifications

• Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling – Relational Approach (HE)

• BSc (Hons) Psychology & Education

• Diploma in the Practice of Clinical Supervision

• Íø±¬ÃÅ Accredited Counsellor / Psychotherapist

I regularly update my knowledge through CPD (Continued Professional Development) supporting my therapeutic practice, including training in:

• Attachment

• CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)

• Working with ADHD

• Transactional Analysis

I am a Registered and Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I adhere to their ethical, good practice guidelines and professional standards.

I am fully insured and DBS checked.

My practice is based in Roundhay, North Leeds. I usually see clients face to face. I can also offer online sessions. I offer short term and long-term therapy.

Practice description

Working with Children & Young People

Much of my experience has been supporting children and young people, including 10 years as a school therapist for a well-being charity. I use creative and expressive methods such as art, sensory and play materials, as appropriate to age and development to help young people communicate that which is hard to put into words. With younger children, I draw on play therapy to help children express their inner worlds, naturally and safely and always attuned to the individual needs of each child.

I support children and young people experiencing:

• Anxiety, low mood, or emotional overwhelm

• Low self-esteem/confidence

• Friendship challenges and bullying

• Family separation, divorce, or change

• Bereavement or loss

• School stress, transitions, and exam pressure

I also work closely with parents, offering a supportive space to help them understand and respond to their child’s needs with more clarity and confidence.

Therapy for Women

I work with women offering an open and collaborative space to explore life’s complexities and reconnect with their strengths. My aim is to help you to explore difficult feelings; to develop a deeper awareness and thus to navigate a way forwards.

I support women experiencing a wide range of issues including:

• Relationship issues

• Grief and loss

• Overwhelm or burnout

• Life transitions

• Questions of identity and self-worth

• Emotional healing from trauma or stress

My experience includes extensive work within charity and community settings, bringing a grounded, inclusive understanding of the many emotional issues that women encounter.

My first session

What to Expect

Our first session enables us to explore what has brought you (or your child) to therapy. I offer an assessment, including your personal history to consider what might be helpful in further sessions. It’s an opportunity to discuss your hopes for the process and see if we are the right fit to work together. Choosing the right therapist is important to enable beneficial work together. I offer a free 20-minute call to determine what might be best for you. Please get in touch via telephone or e-mail to arrange an initial telephone conversation.
