About me and my therapy practice

I am a Counsellor & Psychotherapist working in Colchester, North Essex. CO1 & CO7 I have many years working in NHS mental health services and have specialist experience of working with a breast cancer diagnosis and neonatal loss.

People come with a wide range of different emotional difficulties, which impacts in many different ways - perhaps as low self-esteem, heightened self-criticism, lack of motivation, or a general feeling of sadness. This tends to manifest in a low mood and depression, often straining relationships, feeling stuck, overwhelmed with life, or a general lack of confidence and self-belief.

Very often these ingrained patterns that have been around many years will link to past events and early relational experiences. Every experience and how it manifests is unique to each individual.

In a non-judgmental and safe environment, we work together to help you make sense of what is distressing you. We will have space to explore your difficulties to help process and heal experience, which will enable you to gain a better understanding of your emotional self.  This allows you to make important shifts in your life, so you will feel more in control and empowered.

I offer long term, or time-limited counselling, according to your individual needs. I work with adults from 18 years.

Practice description

I offer long or time-limited counselling, dependent upon your needs. Time-limited can be for a minimum of eight sessions, and long term is several months or longer. DIT therapy is a model of sixteen sessions. To enable counselling to work and be therapeutic you need to feel comfortable with me, therefore our first meeting is an opportunity for us to meet and discuss whether counselling is what you are looking for and appropriate to your needs. This appointment is without obligation on either side. I will not accept your referral unless I feel it will be beneficial to you, so I may signpost you to another service if I feel this is more helpful to you.

Feel free to ask questions you need to satisfy yourself that I am a person you can trust and with whom you would like to work. I work according to your needs and we will regularly review our work together within this process.

I offer in person or remote appointments.

My first session
