About me and my therapy practice
I believe that the foundation of effective therapy lies in a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a warm, non-judgemental and confidential space where clients feel truly heard, valued and safe to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
My approach is built on genuine empathy and compassion. I work sensitively, always with respect for each individual’s unique journey. I work in a person-centred and non-directive way, allowing clients to set the pace and direction of our sessions. This helps empower them to develop deeper self-awareness, gain clarity, and build the confidence to navigate life’s challenges more effectively.
My belief is that everyone has potential for growth and positive change. I see my role as walking alongside my clients, to gain a sense of what it is like to be in their shoes, offering support and understanding, helping them explore what matters most to them.
Practice description
While the person-centred approach is at the heart of my work, I believe it can be beneficial to draw on a range of therapeutic interventions to support each client’s unique needs, goals, and potential. My aim is to work collaboratively with clients, offering a safe, supportive environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to explore whatever is important to you.
Alongside my core person-centred training, I am trained in a range of approaches including Trauma-Focused Therapy, Couples Counselling, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and Transactional Analysis. This allows me to adapt how I work, depending on what feels most helpful and relevant for you.
I have extensive experience supporting people through loss and bereavement, having worked in a hospice with both patients and their families. I also have experience of working in a specialist service, supporting children and young people affected by bereavement or by a loved one living with a palliative condition. My NHS experience includes working in cancer and palliative care, as well as within NHS Talking Therapies as a Person Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD) Counsellor.
I offer 60-minute sessions, available both during the day and some evenings. Sessions can be held in person, online, or by telephone— whatever works best for you.
My therapy room provides a private, quiet and confidential place where you can feel safe and comfortable to explore at your own pace. My approach is always guided by what matters most to you.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and begin to build a connection. You’ll have the chance to ask any questions you may have and get a sense of how I work. I’ll also ask some gentle questions to understand what brings you to counselling, what kind of support you’re looking for, and what you hope to gain from our sessions together.
Starting counselling can be a big step, and I fully appreciate how important it is to feel at ease with the person you choose to work with. The first session is a space for you to explore whether I’m the right counsellor for you.
