About me and my therapy practice
I'm an experienced Binge Eating Disorder Specialist helping people struggling with compulsive eating, emotional eating and binge eating.
- Does your eating feel out of control?
- Do you eat when you're not hungry?
- Do you keep eating when you're full?
- Do you eat to avoid your feelings?
Suffering with emotion-driven overeating can feel distressing, shameful and lonely.
I know how vulnerable you feel trying to find someone who truly understands. I provide a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space for you to explore your struggles with overeating.
We'd actively work to heal the issues underlying your eating, such as developmental trauma; low self-esteem; difficulty regulating feelings; identifying personal boundaries; and understanding your emotional needs. We'd also examine the negative impact dieting has on your urge to binge, and focus on developing the autonomous relationship with food you want and deserve.
Having resolved my own issues with binge eating many years ago, I'd really like to help you make peace with food and yourself.
I'm a highly sensitive person (HSP) and I specialise in working with clients who are also highly sensitive. Many of my clients are counsellors or therapists themselves.
Practice description
- Accredited Member of the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST).
- Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ).
- HSP-knowledgeable therapist (successfully completed Dr Elaine Aron's Psychotherapy and the Highly Sensitive Person Programme).
- Certified online therapist.
I'm a Certified Schema Therapist, accredited by the International Society of Schema Therapy. I trained in Schema Therapy (an advanced form of CBT) with Schema Therapy Associates at the British Psychological Society, London, in 2017/18.
I have a Masters Degree in Counselling from the University of East Anglia. My MA research dissertation on compulsive eating and obesity was completed in 2011, and I've worked exclusively with clients with overeating disorders since 2012.
If you're interested in sessions or have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
- I provide a free 20-minute initial phone consultation.
- My fee is £100 per session (I offer a small number of concessionary spaces at £85 per session).
- I work with clients on Wednesdays and Fridays.
- To help you decide if I'm the right therapist for you, I'm happy to email some further information about how I work - just get in touch.
**Please note: I work with clients who don't compensate for their binge eating or overeating by fasting/restricting; vomiting; using laxatives; or over-exercising. Therefore, my practice isn't suitable for you if you're struggling with bulimia or any other eating disorder.
