About me and my therapy practice

It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help and support, and often when we do, we may have waited for a while thinking things might improve, so it can feel quite overwhelming and sometimes scary, by the time we do engage with counselling. 

The process of opening up can feel overwhelming and daunting, however by providing somewhere safe, and a non judgmental environment, my training and open friendly personality will help you feel comfortable, and at ease. I will use all my experience, training and skills to benefit you from the first session onwards. Discussing your fears and worries can really help you to make sense of what you are feeling and thinking and also consider possible options and the way forward if and when you are ready. 

I have been counselling since 1998 within different environments for many years, with a range of individuals in different settings. I am a fully qualified, and experienced, and I offer a sensitive, collaborative, confidential counselling service. 

I provide Online counselling, via Zoom video call, (or telephone if you prefer) offering a sensitive and confidential counselling service for individuals (18+ and adult).  

This is undertaken via short, medium or long term counselling sessions, 1-6 sessions, 6-20 sessions and longer; These are 50 minutes in duration. 

I can work longer term if we both feel this is appropriate.

I am available daytimes & evenings Monday,  Wednesday, & Friday  using Zoom or Telephone.

Practice description

I work in a very fluid relational way, getting to know you and tailoring the counselling to your needs. I can do this because I am trained integratively, which encompasses many different modalities of working; I use my experience and training to tailor the counselling to your specific needs. I work in a Person Centred way, which means you are at the heart of the work and there is no agenda other than yours. I am also trained to aid you to link to your past, if you choose, and this may support you in understanding some of your behaviour, feelings and thoughts in the present, and aid you with techniques and ways managing these.

I will encourage you to be aware of how you feel on many levels so you can become holistically self-aware. The more self aware you are and become, and the more you understand yourself, your motivations, feelings, and possible triggers, the better choices you can make for yourself in relation to all aspects of your life. 

The years of training I have undertaken have influenced the way I work and helped to bring a richness to what I can offer you.

I will help you become aware of how your body responds to your emotions, and how you feel as a whole person. I will not judge you and will help you to not judge yourself in the process, as we are all human. 

I can work with you in a spiritual way, this may encompass, (but is not limited to) learning about yours and others energy and managing this, learning to differentiate yours from others energy, which can help with managing your boundaries, including grounding and containing yourself. 

If you have had a Near Death Experience (NDE) or Out of Body Experiences (OBE) and you need to make sense of these, or  experiences that you cannot explain, please contact me.

You may have begun to experience a new expansiveness, a ‘Spiritual Awakening’ and/or 'Dark night of the Soul' and feel you need to talk about this in a non judgemental environment if so, please do get in touch.

My first session

  1. I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation, so that we can both become familiar with each other and ask a few questions to decide if we would like to meet me for the first assessment session.
  2. We will then agree day/time for a 50 minute Zoom video call or continue on the phone, if you desire. This session is in part, about both of us deciding if we can work together. It is important that we both feel at ease and that working online/over the phone is appropriate for you, and the things you want to attend counselling for. It's also a chance for you to ask me any questions you may have and I will ask you some specific questions that will help me to determine your suitability for counselling at this time, or whether you may need a different type of help from another source. 
  3. Some of the questions might for example, be about your sleep, lifestyle, and what is already working for you, for example, deep breathing, taking space or meditation, healthy eating execise etc. You can share in brief some of your past if this feels relevant to the present, and this might already show up themes or patterns we might identify. It aids the process, to have a full picture of your life and this enables me to work with you in the right tailored way. 
  4. There is often time to share what is concerning you as we discuss the above, and it is surprising how much can surface in this session for us to consider working with going forward.
  5. We end the session with either a date to continue, or for you to go away and consider further.
  6. If you want to carry on working with me, I will provide my Agreement and Privacy Policy for your perusal. A date to continue with a Zoom link and fee information via email.
