Practice description
Couples Counselling and Relationship Counselling
Relationships can be a great source of joy, pleasure and companionship, however, challenges and pressures from within and outside the relationship can put significant strain on the couple. Dysfunctional patterns of behaviour can be worked through. Couples and relationship counselling helps improve empathy, understanding and communication to create healthier relationships. Sometimes our work may be about creating healthier boundaries or finding a way to end a relationship respectfully. Couples counselling provides an opportunity to learn to communicate better and resolve conflict.
Family Counselling
Family Counselling can make a different if your family is going through a tough time with stresses from inside or outside the family. Family counselling provides an opportunity to highlight your strengths, use them to your advantage and help you find ways to learn to communicate and function better.
Families do their best to be a resource to each other but sometimes the solutions we try form part of the problem and we can get stuck. Family counselling can be attended to address a broad range of issues including issues that individual counselling may be attended for. You may wish to attend family counselling to address issues that are traditionally considered to be individual issues (e.g. depression, self harm etc) and you may use family sessions to work through changes in family life.
Family Counselling is usually short term between 12-24 sessions.
I have experience of working with primary school children and secondary school teenagers, young people and families.
