About me and my therapy practice

I offer a warm, trauma informed, approachable service within a discreet, safe & comfortable environment enabling clients to explore their concerns, anxieties or worries at their own pace.

With over 35 years’ experience in the support sector—including work in the Probation Service, public, and voluntary sectors—I’ve supported individuals with complex needs across a broad range of settings. My work has included supporting those affected by homelessness, mental health issues, addiction, ADHD, Autism, trauma, and dual diagnosis. I’ve worked with adult survivors of institutional child sexual abuse and served as an Approved Foster Carer for Avon Social Services. I’ve held varied roles in both statutory and voluntary services, supporting rough sleepers, ex-offenders, and people navigating emotional and psychological distress from destructive environments.  I understand that individuals rarely fall into a single category and require a holistic approach to address the full context of their lives.

Experience of counselling in an organisation taking GP referrals; Employees Assistance Programmes, Reflective Practice, Private Practice Mentoring and Private Practice, offering both short and long term counselling over a broad range of issues and circumstances.

Practice description

I trust my clients know themselves and their experiences better than I do. Our relationship is founded on unconditional positive regard, empathy and genuineness. Clients use their time in their own way and at their own pace to examine those areas causing them concern. My role is assisting clients in finding their own answers and solutions that are unique to them and their experience, to realize their own potentiality.

I offer a trauma informed, person centred approach for those clients experiencing distress, anxiety or depression. Some are working through life crises, coming to terms with loss, have suffered abuse / emotional abuse, or are going through separation and divorce, difficulties with relationship or family issues. I work with individuals and some children and young people. I am also able to offer assistance with issues of trauma, low self esteem and low self confidence, anger management, grief and loss, feeling sad, spirituality, obsessive compulsive disorders, anxiety, panic and seasonal affective disorder. It's about enabling everyone to fulfil their potential.

My first session

My initial consultation is always free of charge, usually lasting about 30 minutes. It is an opportunity for clients to meet me, go through my client contract and hopefully assist them in their decision making.
