Availability

I am currently available to accept clients. My hours are 10am to 4pm inclusive. For those who are working I can offer evening time face to face, telephone or online sessions. The first session is an assessment and is free of charge, when the client can decide if they wish to engage with me and I can decide if I believe I can help.

About me and my therapy practice

I have 30 years experience specialising in self-harm,  suicidal ideation, bereavement by suicide and addiction.  My clinical approach is a compassionate,  humanistic one which has proven the most effective over my 30 years in practice.i also provide clinical supervision with the Inskipp and Proctor model having been trained to Level 7 status by the University of Ulster

Practice description

I work with 16 year olds to 80+ year old clients. I normally aim for 8-10 sessions with a progress review on the 4th session. However depending on the issue this could be slightly less or more, in agreement with the client. Risk management is a priority in my practice especially with the issues of self-harm and suicidal ideation.

My first session

As mentioned above this session is free of charge. We carry out a CORE (Clinical Outcomes Routine Evaluation) assessment which identifies the main issues the client is experiencing and also allows us to see week by week how the sessions are progressing. It is a 10 question self report by the client of how they, in the past week, been experiencing their wellbeing, life problems, functioning and risk status. This helps the client monitor their progress and also informs me if there are certain areas that need attention. I explain the issue of confidentiality and my method of record keeping. The session ends with me giving the client a future appointment and asking them to consider whether they wish to engage with me. I confirm if I feel competently to support them and ask that they let me know should they not want to engage. I point out that future sessions will be charged at £40 or concessionary rate if applicable. I inform them that we will then contract our work together at the next meeting.
