About me and my therapy practice
Overview of How I Work
As a person-centred counsellor, my work is grounded in empathy, honesty, and genuine connection. I believe that when we feel truly heard and accepted, we begin to find our own answers and a greater sense of peace within ourselves. My aim is to offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely, at your own pace, and without pressure or expectation.
Rather than giving advice or direction, I see our sessions as a collaborative process where we work together to understand what鈥檚 happening for you. I trust that you are the expert in your own life, and I鈥檒l be alongside you as you move towards greater clarity, self-understanding, and emotional wellbeing.
I have particular experience supporting clients around alcohol and substance misuse, addiction and recovery, body dysmorphia, and addictive personality disorders. I also work with individuals experiencing anxiety, loss, low self-esteem, or a general sense of feeling stuck. Each person鈥檚 story is unique, and I adapt my approach to meet your individual needs.
I offer counselling in several formats to make therapy as accessible and comfortable as possible. This includes face-to-face sessions, online sessions (video calls), telephone counselling, and walk-and-talk sessions for those who prefer a more relaxed, outdoor setting. Depending on your location, I can also bring counselling directly to your home 鈥 this can be discussed and may include an additional fee.
My intention throughout our work together is to create a compassionate, trusting environment where you can reconnect with your own resilience and sense of self.
Practice description
Walking Beside You: A Person-Centred Approach to Counselling
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, and for many people it takes courage to reach out and ask for support. As a person-centred counsellor, I believe that each of us has the capacity to grow and heal when we are met with understanding, empathy, and a safe space to be ourselves.
My approach is grounded in genuine connection. Rather than telling you what to do, I walk alongside you, creating a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. For many of my clients, simply being truly heard and accepted has been the first step towards lasting change.
I have a particular passion for working with people facing challenges around alcohol and substance misuse, addiction, and recovery. Over the years, I鈥檝e supported clients living with body dysmorphia and addictive personality disorders, helping them uncover healthier ways of relating to themselves and the world around them.
Because everyone鈥檚 circumstances are different, I offer a range of ways to access counselling. This can include:
Face-to-face sessions in a safe, confidential setting
Online counselling (video calls)
Telephone counselling
鈥淲alk and Talk鈥 sessions, where we combine gentle movement with therapeutic conversation
In some cases, I am happy to bring counselling directly to your home. This does depend on client location and an additional fee will need to be discussed during our first session together.
I work with adults aged 18 and over, and together we can explore the challenges you鈥檙e facing 鈥 whether that鈥檚 addiction, anxiety, low self-esteem, loss, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you.
Counselling is a journey, and you don鈥檛 have to walk it alone. If you鈥檙e considering taking that step, I鈥檇 be honoured to work alongside you as you begin to rediscover your own resilience, strength, and sense of self.
My first session
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, so I aim to make our initial session as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Our first meeting is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to share what brings you to counselling at this time.
During this session, we鈥檒l talk through what you鈥檇 like to gain from therapy and explore how I can best support you. There鈥檚 no pressure to share everything straight away 鈥 this is your space, and we鈥檒l go at your pace. I鈥檒l also explain how I work as a person-centred counsellor, what confidentiality means in practice, and answer any questions you might have.
If you decide you鈥檇 like to continue, we鈥檒l discuss the most suitable way to work together 鈥 whether that鈥檚 face-to-face, online, by telephone, or through walk-and-talk sessions. I also offer, depending on your location, the option for me to travel to your home (an additional fee will apply and can be discussed during this session).
The first session lasts around 50 minutes. My standard session fee applies; however, I鈥檓 happy to offer a short, no-obligation introductory call (around 30 minutes) free of charge so you can ask any questions and see if I鈥檓 the right counsellor for you.
