About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Vicky, a qualified integrative therapist, fully insured and a registered member of the Íø±¬ÃÅ, offering therapy to adults, both online throughout the UK and in person, based in Carmarthen, South West Wales.
I offer a safe and confidential space where you can talk openly about whatever feels difficult or important in your life. Counselling can be a time to pause, reflect, and make sense of your experiences with someone who will listen without judgment. Many people find that through therapy, they gain greater clarity, self-understanding, and confidence to make meaningful changes in their lives.
You might come to counselling to manage anxiety, low mood, or stress, to process grief or loss, to explore relationship challenges, or to understand yourself better. Whatever brings you, I aim to provide a warm, supportive space where you can talk freely and feel truly heard.
I qualified with a Master’s in Integrative Counselling in 2025, and I’ve been practising as a counsellor throughout my training since 2022. My experience includes working within higher education and low-cost counselling services. Before training as a therapist, I spent over 17 years supporting individuals in a variety of settings, including those experiencing homelessness, the care system, mental health challenges, domestic abuse, and relationship breakdown. These experiences have shaped my belief in people’s capacity for growth, recovery, and change when given the right support.
Practice description
My approach to therapy is flexible and collaborative. I don’t believe there’s one single approach to working with everyone. As a relational integrative therapist, in ‘therapy speak’ I adopt a pluralistic approach which means I draw from a range of counselling methods, including person-centred, cognitive behavioural (CBT), mindfulness and compassion-focused therapies, whilst recognising that the therapeutic relationship is central to the work we do together. Depending on your individual needs and goals, together, we’ll explore what feels most helpful for you, at your pace. Your views are also deeply important to me. From the start and throughout therapy, I will invite your feedback and thoughts on how we work together, ensuring the sessions are meeting your needs and preferences.
I offer short, medium, or long term counselling, with sessions available weekly or fortnightly depending on your needs. I usually hold sessions at the same time each week, but I understand this isn’t always possible for everyone, for example, those working shifts or with caring responsibilities. I take a flexible approach to scheduling and will work with you to find what fits best.
Sessions are available to adults both online and in person, based in Carmarthen, South West Wales, providing you with flexibility to access support in a way that suits you best. I offer weekly or fortnightly sessions with daytime, evening and weekend availability.
I recognise that sessions on the same day and time each week may not work for everyone, for example, those working shift patterns or unsociable hours, and those with caring responsibilities. Therefore, I offer a flexible approach to scheduling in a way that meets your needs and commitments.
My first session
Choosing the right counsellor for you is an important step, and it’s natural to want to see if we might be a good fit before starting therapy.
I offer a free online or telephone 30-minute exploratory call to give you the chance to:
- Talk a little about what’s bringing you to counselling
- Ask any questions about how I work or what to expect
- Get a sense of whether my approach feels right for you
There’s no obligation to book further sessions; this call is simply a space to connect, explore your needs, and see what feels most supportive.
Introductory calls take place by phone or secure video link, whichever you prefer.
Once we have agreed to work together, I will send you a counselling agreement to sign and return prior to our first session. I will also send you a brief introductory form, aimed to give me some more basic information and to ensure that I can support clients appropriately and ethically.
Our first session will be about building on this initial information, and for us to build an understanding of your needs and goals for therapy. It is important that we both feel confident that we can work together.
If for any reason I do not feel that I am the correct therapist for a client I will always endeavour to refer a client on to someone more appropriate.
