About me and my therapy practice
I’m Ceri Schofield, an experienced psychodynamic counsellor working with adults. I offer a safe, supportive, and confidential space, both in person in central Cheltenham and online, where you can take time to explore what’s been happening and how it’s affecting you.
Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low, or unsure where to start? That’s completely understandable — you don’t need to have all the answers before reaching out.
You might be seeking counselling because something in your life feels heavy, confusing, or painful, or because you’re experiencing anxiety or depression and want support in understanding and managing how you feel.
Common concerns include:
Anxiety, stress, or low mood
Depression
Repeated relationship difficulties
Low self-esteem or self-criticism
Feeling stuck, lost, or not quite yourself
Work-related pressures or burnout
My psychodynamic approach focuses not only on what’s happening now but also on how past experiences and relationships may shape your present. Together, we gently explore these patterns beneath the surface, helping you make sense of your feelings, develop greater self-understanding, and discover new ways of relating to yourself and others, whether over a few sessions or a longer period.
Before training as a counsellor, I worked for 15 years in education — an experience that continues to inform and enrich my practice. I offer both open-ended and time-limited therapy, depending on your needs.

Practice description
I offer both open-ended and time-limited counselling, tailored to your needs.
Sessions last 50 minutes and take place at the same time each week, either in my practice rooms in Cheltenham or online, providing a consistent, reflective space where you can explore and process your emotions at your own pace.
My first session
If you’d like to get in touch, we can arrange an initial consultation at a time that works for both of us. This first session is an opportunity to discuss what brings you to counselling and what you hope to gain from it. It also gives you a chance to get a feel for how I work and decide whether this feels like the right fit for you - the choice to continue is entirely yours.
The fee for the initial consultation is £55.
