About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Nicolette, a Therapeutic Counsellor and Creative Arts Practitioner.
I offer an integrative, person-centred approach that supports children, young people, and adults to explore their experiences in a safe, compassionate space. My work draws on humanistic, relational, and creative methods, adapting to each person’s individual needs and pace. I believe that through understanding, reflection, and connection, we can strengthen resilience and move towards greater self-awareness and balance.
I help clients navigate issues such as anxiety, loss, identity, and life transitions. My experience includes working within Secondary Alternative Provision, Primary Schools, and various community settings, supporting those facing emotional, behavioural, and relational challenges. Alongside direct counselling, I provide reflective spaces for professionals and schools to help strengthen emotional wellbeing within their communities.
Through my practice, Flourish Oxford, I aim to create a calm, grounded environment where growth happens in relationship — when we are truly seen, heard, and accepted.
Practice description
I offer an integrative, person-centred counselling approach that values the uniqueness of each individual. My practice is grounded in warmth, curiosity, and respect for each client’s pace and process. I believe that with the right support, everyone has the capacity to grow, heal, and move towards greater self-understanding and balance.
Drawing on humanistic, relational, and integrative frameworks, I adapt my approach to meet the specific needs of each person I work with. This may include elements from attachment theory, relational depth, parts work, and creative exploration. I aim to create a safe, collaborative space where you can explore experiences, relationships, and emotions without judgement.
Much of my work involves helping clients recognise patterns of relating, understand the impact of past experiences, and strengthen their inner resources. I work with adults and young people, supporting issues such as anxiety, self-esteem, loss, identity, and life transitions.
Flourish Oxford reflects my belief that growth happens in relationship, when we are truly seen and heard. My practice offers a calm, grounded environment, whether in person or online, where reflection, authenticity, and emotional safety are at the heart of the process.
My first session
Before beginning counselling, I offer an initial video call or phone chat to help us get a sense of whether we might be a good fit to work together. This is a chance for you to share what’s brought you to counselling, ask any questions, and get a feel for my approach.
If we decide to continue, our first full session is an opportunity to begin getting to know one another and to explore your story in more depth, what feels important right now, what you hope to gain from counselling, and any goals or themes you’d like to focus on.
We’ll also take some time to go through the practicalities of working together, such as confidentiality, session structure, and my practice policies and to establish a shared understanding of how we’ll work together. My aim is to create a supportive space where you feel comfortable, informed, and respected from the very beginning of the process.
