About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome. My name is Kat and I'm a person-centred, trauma informed therapist working from my new private practice in Fleetwood.

With over 12 years experience working with children, young people and adults - in a safeguarding and wellbeing capacity - I bring a wealth of knowledge, empathy and professional integrity to my therapeutic practice. Whilst my practice is grounded in person-centred theory, my qualifications and experience have allowed me to develop a flexible and more integrative style which is tailored to meet the unique needs of my clients.

I hold a Masters level qualification in Counselling and Psychotherapy and I am also an accredited Drawing & Talking practitioner - an art-based therapeutic intervention rooted in Jungian theory which is particularly popular with children and young people who may struggle to express themselves verbally.

I have been volunteering within the charitable sector for the past 18 months - counselling adults who have been impacted by sexual violence and/or childhood abuse. This role has deepened my trauma-informed practice and reinforced the importance of providing compassionate, non-judgmental support to those navigating complex emotional histories.

Within the education sector I work as a Senior Wellbeing Manager and school counsellor. I am also a Designated Safeguarding Lead. My work in school - supporting pupils and their families - positions me strongly to support those who are experiencing emotional challenges relating to education; anxiety; family disputes; life transitions and the impact of intergenerational cycles.

Practice description

I appreciate that first step into therapy can feel a little daunting so I offer a no obligation 20 minute telephone consultation free of charge. This will provide you with the opportunity to ask any questions, and decide if you want to work with me. The relationship we develop plays a crucial role in your therapeutic journey and I'm invested in ensuring you feel comfortable, heard and valued from our first contact.

I am passionate about creating a safe space where you feel empowered. So, as well as being quiet; confidential; and fully accessible, my therapy room offers comfortable seating options as well as an area for more creative exploration (if you prefer to work in this way).

In our sessions I will work in collaboration with you, as we explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Whilst the sessions are led by you, and will proceed at a pace you feel comfortable with, I may at times offer gentle challenge or alternative perspectives. This will always be communicated with compassion and free from judgement as we navigate this journey together.

My first session

During our first session we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, identify the areas you'd like to work on, and establish your goals. You may not know the answer to all these questions yet, and that's OK too, we can always revisit this.

We'll also look at the counselling contract and how we'll work together moving forward.
