About me and my therapy practice
My approach to therapy is humanistic and trauma-focused, while collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in creating a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore whatever brings you to counselling. I believe that each person’s experiences and needs are unique, and I tailor my work to support you in a way that feels respectful, empowering, and effective. Grounded in the belief that every person has an inherent capacity for healing and growth when offered the right conditions of safety, empathy, and understanding. I offer a calm, supportive space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace, free from judgment or expectation.Working somatically, I pay careful attention to the connection between mind and body, recognising how trauma and stress can be held and expressed physically as well as emotionally. Together, we can explore sensations, tension, breath, and posture as ways to gently reconnect with the body and develop a greater sense of safety and presence.
My practice is informed by trauma-informed principles and polyvagal awareness, helping clients to understand and regulate their nervous system responses. I work collaboratively and at your pace, offering a therapeutic relationship based on authenticity, warmth, and respect. Therapy can provide a space to process past experiences, understand current challenges, and develop new ways of relating to yourself and others.
My work is neuro-affirming and trauma-informed, recognising the importance of safety, regulation, and pacing in the therapeutic process. Alongside aspects of psychoeducation, where appropriate, to support you in building resilience and confidence in your own inner resources.
Practice description
I offer counselling and somatic therapy through Mindful Moments Therapies, based in Havant, Hampshire. I work with children, young people, and adults, creating a safe, compassionate space where each person can be supported to explore their experiences, emotions, and challenges at their own pace.
Sessions are available in person from my peaceful garden therapy space, a private, nurturing environment designed to help you feel grounded and at ease. I also provide online sessions, offering flexibility and accessibility for those who prefer to work remotely. I work somatically, paying attention to the body’s wisdom, how feelings, memories, and stress can be held physically as well as emotionally. Through gentle awareness of breath, posture, or sensation, clients can begin to reconnect with a sense of presence, regulation, and self-trust.
Sessions offer a space for reflection, healing, and growth, whether you are navigating anxiety, low mood, self-esteem issues, relationship challenges, loss, or a sense of being stuck. Or you are seeking support for anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, or a general sense of disconnection, our work together can help you to find steadiness, self-trust, and a renewed sense of aliveness. My role is to walk alongside you, helping you to connect more fully with yourself and develop new ways of understanding and responding to life’s challenges.
When working with children and young people (CYP), I adapt sessions to suit their developmental stage and personality, using creative and sensory approaches such as drawing, storytelling, movement, or mindfulness-based play. These methods help young clients express what may be difficult to put into words, build emotional awareness, and develop safe ways to manage intense emotions. With adults, our work may focus on understanding past experiences, exploring patterns in relationships, and developing tools for emotional regulation and resilience.
My first session
Your first session is an initial assessment, which can take up to 90 minutes and is priced at £90. This session can be held in person at my garden therapy space in Havant, Hampshire, or online if you prefer to meet remotely.
The assessment provides an opportunity for us to explore what has brought you to therapy and what you would like to gain from the process. It also enables me to gain a more comprehensive understanding of your current situation, background, and any areas you would like to focus on.
This initial session helps us both decide whether working together feels like the right fit and ensures that I am the best counsellor to support your needs. There is no obligation to continue after this session; it’s a space for reflection, clarity, and choice about the next steps in your therapeutic journey.
During the session, we will:
Discuss your background, current concerns, and any relevant personal history
Explore your goals for therapy and what you would like to focus on
Talk through the practicalities of therapy, including session length, frequency, and format
Answer any questions you may have about the process
The first session also allows me to assess suitability and, where necessary, make recommendations or referrals. All discussions are confidential, with clear explanations of any limitations to confidentiality.
For children and young people, the session is adapted to be age-appropriate and may include creative or somatic methods. Parent or guardian involvement is included where appropriate.
You are encouraged to take the session at your own pace, with space for reflection and discussion. At the end of the assessment, if we both feel that working together is right, we will discuss next steps, including goals and the structure of ongoing sessions.
