About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I am a practicing mental health therapist!
Therapy for me, is a partnership designed to unravel life’s complexities to create a path of seeking deeper understanding of one’s authentic self. It is an essential tool in developing self awareness and fostering a sense of agency.
I recognise the unique intricacy of human needs and behaviour, and aim to provide individually tailored psychotherapy - making the therapeutic experience collaborative and empowering.
I have had the privilege of working with clients from a breadth of cultural and religious backgrounds, as well as various sexual orientations and gender identities. As a therapist of colour, I deeply value your stories of courage and resilience and aim to provide a safe environment which is trusting and culturally sensitive.
Starting your therapeutic journey can be daunting and finding an ‘ideal’ therapist can be equally challenging. In this non judgmental and unconditionally accepting space, I am here to acknowledge and celebrate your varied lived experiences and distinct perspectives. I strive to assist in providing the resources which will aid in insight, growth and provide clarity to your vision and voice.
My first session
I operate from a holistic integrative lens in which I utilise person-centred, cognitive behavioural and psychodynamic techniques to inform my practice. My approach is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive, with an emphasis on delivering individualised treatment tailored to your values and needs.
Sessions would help you in examining irrational thoughts and beliefs, and how your past might be shaping current behavioural patterns. Through such reflection and exploration, you will learn to recognise your needs, adopt healthier boundaries and coping strategies which feel sustainable and authentic to you.
Therapy involves delving into your unfamiliar thoughts, raw emotions, and vulnerabilities, which can be both intimidating and uncomfortable.
The first session would look a little like a snapshot of the various parts of your life - a preliminary understanding of reasons bringing you to therapy, an over view of relationships, work and elements of life important to your personality.
In addition to explaining the importance of confidentiality - I would be happy to answer concerns and questions as you demonstrate your strength and commitment to the therapeutic journey!
