About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative psychotherapist with an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and seven years of experience working in mental health. I provide short and long term tailored support to adults, young adults, parents, and the elderly who are navigating emotional difficulties.
I use an integrative approach that is flexible and malleable, designed to help you lessen the symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression, which often stem from deeper issues. My integrative approach allows me to combine the deep, root-cause exploration of psychodynamic work with the compassionate relationship focus of humanistic therapy and the practical, symptom-management tools of cognitive techniques, ensuring our plan is tailored to you.
I am skilled in helping clients navigate relationship difficulties, including unstable romantic patterns and dysfunctional family dynamics, as well as interpersonal challenges like social anxiety, loneliness, and conversational barriers. My expertise also extends to relevant experiences with neurodiversity. Furthermore, I am interested in the challenges of identity formation within a multicultural society. We'll work to understand your unique difficulties and tailor a path forward.
Practice description
Scheduling and Commitment
I offer flexible therapy scheduling, mainly weekly but open to fortnightly appointments, as continuity is important to see results.
The Initial Sessions (Assessment and Foundation)
First sessions will be focused on getting to know you, understanding your circumstances, context, and the roots of your issues. I will likely have a more active role asking questions to understand them better, or offer an empathic and quiet space for you to vent and explain fully. I will mainly assess your problem, allowing you to talk freely and make a thorough picture of who you are and why you are struggling. After this assessment period, I will provide more feedback, and offer interpretations to be discussed in the sessions.
The Ongoing Therapeutic Process
As sessions go further, we will allow for free association of new issues; the agenda is not linear, new goals and difficulties can appear, and we will give space to what comes up—we are not tied to work only in one direction. At the end, we will try to find links between past and present, and between problems and their possible causes. Alongside this exploratory process, we will eventually include solution-focused approaches and develop actionable plans to tackle certain difficulties, if this is something that we agree will be beneficial and appropriate.
