About me and my therapy practice
My name is Jon, founder of Attached Counselling and Psychotherapy. I offer a warm, confidential, and non-judgmental space where you can explore life’s challenges at your own pace. Whether you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, substance misuse, relationship difficulties, or general feelings of overwhelm, I am here to support you.
With over 10 years’ experience working within community substance misuse and mental health services, I understand the complexities of emotional distress and the importance of compassionate, person-centred care. While I work across a wide range of issues, my specialist area focuses on the combined impact of addictions, dependency, and mental well-being. My approach is attachment-informed, helping you explore the origins and underlying patterns that may be influencing your current struggles.
My professional background is supported by a Master’s degree (MSc) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and registration with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ), ensuring ethical, evidence-based practice.
Practice description
My approach is integrative, meaning therapy is tailored to your unique needs. I draw from a range of therapeutic models including: person-centred therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), attachment theory, and compassion-focused approaches allowing me to work flexibly and collaboratively at a pace that feels right for you.
I believe that healing begins in a safe space where you feel truly heard and accepted. Together, we will explore your experiences, build resilience, and support you in moving forward with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional well-being. I work from a cosy, welcoming therapy space in central Doncaster, surrounded by other holistic services - a convenient location for anyone living in the South Yorkshire region.
If you’re not local, there’s no need to worry. I offer online, telephone, and hybrid options to ensure therapy is accessible in whatever way suits you best. I’m a firm believer in flexibility and collaboration, so please feel free to arrange a free consultation to discuss what you need and how we can work together.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute consultation to answer any questions you may have, with no commitment or expectation. If you choose to book your first session, we will agree on a day and time that works best for you. Your initial session will focus on helping you feel as comfortable and safe as possible, as well as giving me the opportunity to get to know you and understand what has brought you to therapy.
Trust is an essential part of feeling safe in the therapeutic relationship. For this reason, our first step will be completing a therapeutic contract, which ensures transparency and helps you feel informed and protected. From there, we will move at your pace through an assessment that allows me to build a clear understanding of your situation and the support you may need.
