About me and my therapy practice
I’m Melissa, a pluralistic counsellor offering a compassionate space to explore grief, trauma and self-discovery. I understand that trauma, stress and emotion can stay held in our bodies as well as our thoughts and I believe healing begins when we feel seen, understood and reconnected to ourselves. As a pluralistic therapist, I draw from a range of approaches to tailor sessions to each individual.
Practice description
I’ve worked with a wide range of clients, including young people and students navigating life transitions, identity and self-esteem, as well as adults facing grief, trauma, anxiety, and relationship issues. I have particular experience working with bereavement with Cruse Scotland, including suicide bereavement which is an area of focus for my practice.
I see therapy as a process of rebuilding trust in yourself and learning to listen to the signals your mind and body give you. My aim is to offer a space where you can explore what’s painful while also reconnecting to your strength, resilience and self-trust.
My first session
Sessions last 50 minutes and take place online via Google Meet. You'll need a stable internet connection and a private space without distractions, where you feel you can speak freely.
I offer a free 20 minute inital chat over the phone to discuss what brings you to therapy, answer any questions and see if you feel we would be a good fit before arranging a full session.
