About me and my therapy practice

I’m an Integrative Psychotherapist who brings warmth, empathy, and understanding to my work — shaped by my many years as a teacher, mentor, and carer. For over 16 years, I supported children, families, and colleagues through life’s emotional ups and downs, which naturally led me to psychotherapy.

My approach draws from humanistic, psychodynamic, and relational models, tailored to each person I work with. I believe therapy is a space for reflection, healing, and growth — where you can safely explore what’s happening in your life and begin to reconnect with your own strength, clarity, and self-worth.

Practice description

Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, so I aim to make that first step as gentle and welcoming as possible. My approach is warm, calm, and down-to-earth — offering a space where you can talk freely, feel heard, and begin to make sense of what’s going on for you.

I work as an Integrative Psychotherapist, drawing on a range of therapeutic models to meet each person’s unique needs. This might include exploring repeating patterns, understanding how past experiences shape the present, or finding new ways to respond to challenges with clarity and self-compassion.

I believe therapy works best when it feels real and human. While our work may be reflective and sometimes challenging, I also value warmth, lightness, and humour when it naturally arises — moments of connection that help make the process feel safe and alive.

Clients describe me as calm, understanding, and easy to talk to. Before training as a psychotherapist, I spent over 16 years as a teacher and mentor, supporting children, families, and colleagues through life’s emotional ups and downs. That experience taught me a great deal about resilience, empathy, and the power of being met with kindness and respect.

I work with a wide range of issues including anxiety, loss, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Whatever you bring, we’ll work together at your pace — helping you reconnect with your own strength, balance, and self-understanding.

My first session

The first session is a chance for us to get to know one another and explore what brings you to therapy at this time. It’s a gentle and collaborative process — an opportunity for you to share what feels important, ask questions, and get a sense of how I work.

I see this session as a space to begin understanding your story, what you hope to gain from therapy, and any particular goals or difficulties you’d like to focus on. I’ll also explain how therapy might help and outline some of the practical aspects such as confidentiality, session structure, and frequency.

I don’t require clients to complete lengthy forms or formal assessments before we meet, but I may ask a few questions to help me understand your current situation and needs more clearly. My aim is always to help you feel comfortable and supported right from the start.

Some clients use the first session to explore whether therapy feels right for them — and that’s completely fine. There’s no expectation or commitment to continue unless it feels like a good fit for you.

I charge my usual rate for the first session, though I can offer a reduced rate for students or those on lower incomes, depending on availability.
