About me and my therapy practice
My name is Daniel, and I am a qualified psychotherapist (MÍø±¬ÃÅ) working in private practice, with several years’ experience in NHS community and inpatient mental health services.
I offer a reflective and confidential space marked by openness and thoughtful engagement, where you can explore whatever feels difficult or unclear, whether that is a particular concern, a recurring emotional pattern or a more general sense of unease.
You may come to therapy with something specific you want to address, or simply out of a desire to know yourself more deeply.
At times we seek therapy without quite knowing why, moved by a vague sense of wanting to live more fully and in closer accord with our sense of self.
The work unfolds through curiosity and careful thought about what takes shape in the room. Together we try to make sense of the feelings and patterns that influence your experience and relationships. With time, this process can bring a clearer perspective and a renewed capacity for engagement with life.
Practice description
I work out of the psychodynamic tradition, guided by the conviction that understanding ourselves more fully, including the parts we may find difficult to accept, can open the way to a richer and more integrated experience of life. Therapy offers the chance to slow down and listen to the undercurrents of experience, to notice how the past lives on in the present and how our ways of feeling and relating to others came into being.
By attending closely to what emerges in the work we do together, new and often deeper ways of experiencing life can begin to take shape. As these possibilities unfold, what was once felt as constraint or confusion can give way to a greater sense of coherence, depth and creative vitality in one’s inner life and relationships.
My first session
Beginning therapy is often accompanied by a mixture of curiosity and uncertainty. The first session is a chance to get a sense of how we might work together. I will invite you to speak about what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to get out of the process, while also outlining the practicalities such as fees, timing and confidentiality.
This first meeting lasts 50 minutes and provides space for us both to consider whether the fit feels right. If we decide to continue, sessions will take place weekly at the same time each week, either on an open-ended basis or for an agreed period of time.
