About me and my therapy practice

I’m Jade. Hi. I offer a warm, down-to-earth space where you can talk about whatever’s on your mind, without judgement. I believe we all have times when life feels overwhelming, and having someone to really listen can make a difference. My approach is gentle and supportive, and I’ll walk alongside you as you find your way forward.

Everyone’s needs are different, so the way I work is really flexible — sometimes that might be short-term, focused sessions using solution-focused ideas, and other times it’s a longer, more personal journey where we explore patterns in relationships, behaviours, and the bigger questions in life. It's up to you, and we will talk about our direction of work when we meet. 

Practice description

I believe in you and your ability to make positive changes to your own life, and to know what those changes need to be. I will provide a confidential, empathic, predictable space where you can safely explore how you'd like your future to look - this 'modality' is often referred to as 'Humanistic Counselling'. 

When you feel safe enough to do so, I can support you to explore past experiences - especially early relationships - which may be affecting the way you feel and behave today.  It’s a bit like gently uncovering hidden roots beneath the surface, helping you understand why certain patterns keep happening and allowing you to make new choices that feel more freeing. This is what 'Psychodynamic Counselling' is.  

I can help you to address the way in which you communicate and relate to others, if 'relationships' is something you'd like to explore.  We would work together to recognise any unhelpful patterns you may be experiencing, and find ways for you to build healthier relationships moving forward. This is known as the 'Transactional Analysis' modality. 

There isn't a rule that you have to uncover all of your past to feel better now. If you would rather focus on understanding what’s happening for you right now instead of focusing too much on the past, 'Gestalt Therapy' looks at how you’re feeling, thinking, and acting in the present moment. It’s about noticing your feelings and body sensations, learning to stay aware, and finding ways to feel more whole and balanced in yourself. 

I am currently undergoing training to deliver Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), so I can weave that into your treatment too if you would like. I believe that CBT shouldn't be a 'one treatment fits all' approach - everyone is unique, therefore, so should their therapy be.

My first session

First sessions look a little different for everyone, as it really depends on what you’re hoping to get from counselling and what feels most important to you. There’s no set script — it’s your time, and we’ll go at your pace; There's no pressure to have all the answers or to know exactly where to begin. I’ll always be supportive of whichever direction you’d like to take, and our work together will be a collaborative process, or more a partnership as our relationship grows. My role is to walk alongside you and offer the kind of support you feel you need, so you feel heard, understood, and in charge of your own journey.
