About me and my therapy practice
I specialise in Psychodynamic and Person-Centred Therapy, which is a powerful combination that allows us to explore both your current difficulties and the deeper, often unconscious, patterns that may be influencing them.
When working from a Person-Centred perspective, the session is led by you. We focus on what is happening in the here and now, gently exploring the triggers behind your feelings and behaviours. With empathy and care, I will support you in uncovering and understanding your emotional world, allowing space for greater self-awareness and healing.
When working from a Psychodynamic perspective, I focus on exploring your unconscious thought processes and early life experiences, including any unresolved traumas that may continue to affect you today. We will examine the defence mechanisms you have developed, often unconsciously, as ways to protect yourself from emotional pain.
By bringing these hidden patterns and conflicts into conscious awareness, you can begin to understand the roots of your struggles and how they influence your current feelings and behaviours. This deeper self-awareness allows us to work collaboratively towards healing, helping you develop healthier coping strategies and move toward a more positive and fulfilling outlook on your life.
Although Psychodynamic and Person-Centred approaches are my primary focus, I have also received training in various other modalities and integrate these into my sessions as appropriate, including:
• Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
• Sex and Relationship Therapy
• Couples Therapy
• Fertility Therapy
• Addiction Therapy
• Bereavement Therapy
• Eating Disorders Therapy
• Corporate Therapy
• Mindfulness Therapy
Practice description
Sometimes life can feel unmanageable. Without realising it, we may drift from our true selves and the light at the end of the tunnel can seem increasingly out of reach.
We are all shaped by our past experiences and relationships. Often, we carry unconscious beliefs and conditions that no longer reflect who we truly are. You might feel trapped in cycles of thoughts or behaviours, or perhaps you are only just beginning to realise that your own needs have never been a priority.
Therapy offers a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore who you are. It is a space where you lead the process, and where your fears, sadness, shame, or other overwhelming emotions can be expressed freely and held with care.
Facing these feelings is not easy, but you do not have to do it alone. Through understanding the origins of your emotional pain, you can begin to loosen its hold. This exploration can bring deep relief and empower you with the tools and insight to navigate life in a new, more compassionate way.
I have always been drawn to people and the complexities of the human mind. It is in those moments of honest, vulnerable connection that I feel most alive, and it was this pull that ultimately led me to become a therapist. I consider it a profound honour to do this work.
When I work with a client, my primary focus is to walk alongside you in your story, helping you understand yourself more deeply. Together, we may explore difficult truths, draw meaningful connections, and gently approach what may have been avoided. I will challenge you at times, but always with care and your best interests at heart.
I aim to create a safe, transparent, and honest space where you feel free to be exactly who you are, without fear of judgment. I hold no agenda beyond supporting your exploration and guiding you toward greater self-awareness and healing.
If you feel ready to take this step and embark on this journey with me, I will be fully committed to our journey together towards a brighter future.
My first session
Therapy works best when you feel comfortable, understood, and supported which is why I offer a free 30-minute phone conversation for anyone considering working with me.
This call is simply a chance for us to connect. We can talk about what has been on your mind, what you are hoping to find in therapy, and what kind of support might feel most helpful right now. I will also share a bit about how I work, so you can get a sense of what therapy with me might be like.
There is no pressure or expectation - just an open, caring space to see whether we might be a good fit for each other. My hope is that by the end of our conversation, you’ll have a clearer sense of your next step, whether that’s beginning therapy together or exploring other options that feel right for you.
If you would like to set up a time to talk, please reach out by phone or email. I would be glad to connect and learn a little more about what you are looking for.
