About me and my therapy practice
Feeling anxious, under pressure, or stuck in a big life transition? I’m Josh Friend (MÍø±¬ÃÅ), a counsellor for young adults and professionals navigating anxiety, self-doubt, study/work stress and change.
While I have specialist experience with students and early-career adults, I also work with people at any stage who are dealing with anxiety, relationship difficulties, perfectionism, or big changes at work or home. My background includes over eight years supporting people in demanding UK and US environments, giving me a deep understanding of the pressures that come with career challenges, identity questions, and finding a sense of purpose.
Our sessions are a collaborative space where we work to understand how past experiences might be influencing the present. My aim is to offer a steady presence as you make sense of things. If you're new to therapy, I'll walk you through the process so you feel comfortable from the start.
If my approach resonates with you, please email me to schedule a free 15-minute introductory video call. We can briefly discuss what's on your mind and see if we're a good fit to work together.
Practice description
I keep a very small caseload so our time feels unhurried and you’re not one of many. We meet online (Google Meet) for 50-minute sessions and work at your pace—making sense of patterns, noticing what helps, and shaping practical steps between sessions. I welcome adults of any age; much of my experience is with students and early-career adults (18–25).
My first session
Before we meet, I’ll email a brief intake form, my agreement and privacy notice. Our first 50-minute online session (Google Meet) is the same fee as any session (£50; Sundays £60). We’ll start with what’s brought you here, what would feel like a meaningful change, and any practical needs (pace, camera use, summaries). I’ll explain confidentiality and what happens if the call drops, and check basic safety details (postcode, GP/emergency contact). There’s no test—just a calm space to see how it feels to work together. If we’re a good fit, we’ll confirm a regular slot and next steps.
