About me and my therapy practice
Hello. I'm Clare. If you're here and reading this, you're probably looking for support with your mental health. I can be there for you in a way that suits you best. Therapy is not one size fits all; I first work to understand where you're at and then I'll meet you there.
Are you looking to worry a lot less or enjoy your life a lot more? Do you want to make sense of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours? Would you like greater emotional resilience? Perhaps you're a self-improver wanting greater self awareness?
I can help with that. You are not alone and you deserve support.
I have had the privilege of working with clients from all walks of life. As well as private clients, I also work in a therapy service with clients whose mental health is causing issues with work. My time there has given me experience with anxiety, depression, social anxiety, OCD, domestic abuse, adverse childhood experiences [ACEs], sexual abuse, bereavement, chronic illness, self esteem and identity issues.
I am a Volunteer Counsellor at a leading cancer charity. My role there is to accompany my clients as they adjust to their or a family member's cancer journey. I support them with anxiety, depression, grief, bereavement, identity issues, relationships and so much more.
I haven't always been a counsellor. I retrained from a marketing background and it was (one of - hello to my family!) the best decisions I've made. I really value the time I spend working with and learning from each of my clients.
Practice description
I work online or on the telephone.
We can have an initial telephone conversation to make sure we can work effectively and safely together.
I am trained in Person-Centred Therapy, CBT and Transactional Analysis. However, it's our relationship that will be the most important part of your therapy. Within our relationship you can learn, grow and heal. I believe that you are the expert of yourself, your life and needs. I won't give you advice - there's a chance you've had enough of that. I am here for you to speak openly and honestly with. To help you get in touch with your thoughts and feelings, to pause and take stock of your life.
If I think a particular intervention could be helpful for you, I'll introduce it and you decide whether whether you'd like to know more.
CBT can be helpful with many mental health problems such as anxiety, depression and stress.
Transactional Analysis can really help us to understand our personality and behaviours. It can shine a light on our relationships and improve our communication.
My job is to provide a supportive, confidential and non-judgmental space. Once you know you are in a safe space, your role is to commit to our sessions, to trust and explore.
I hope you can achieve:
Reduced anxiety
Greater enjoyment of life
Improved relationships
Less overwhelm
More resilience and control
A better understanding of yourself, why you think or feel or behave the way you do. And knowledge is power: once you know why, you can decide if that old way of being is still helpful. Or is there a new way? I can help you figure this out and find the new way of that's what you decide.
I work primarily online but we can also work together over the telephone. If face to face is very important for you, get in touch to discuss.
My first session
I offer an initial 30 minute telephone consultation for £30. During this call, we can discuss your concerns and goals, agree how we can work together and decide if it is possible for us to start our therapeutic journey. It's important that you feel comfortable with me and to work ethically, I need to know I have the experience and competence that you require.
