Availability
I work Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
I work in-person in the mornings, and when online, I have a more flexible approach to sessions, especially useful for those with chronic health conditions that vary in energy and limit daily activities.
Sessions are £55 for 50 minutes and £80 for 90 minutes (not suitable for children).
About me and my therapy practice
"I'm tired of feeling like I should be coping by now, inside I'm falling apart", "they think I'm faking being ill, I'm faking being well", "I'm so tired, I don't know how to keep going". If these questions resonate and you're feeling lost, exhausted, angry, anxious, scared, and want a good night's sleep, counselling with me will help. I help people understand their feelings, how trauma is impacting their life, and help them find themselves again. The anxiety in your chest lifts, the brain-fog eases, you feel calmer, more accepting and know yourself better.
My unique blend of calm, non-judgmental, empathic listening, coupled with psychoeducation, creates a safe space that facilitates change for my clients. I help people cope with bereavement and loss in all its forms. Some examples are;
Bereavement,
-Bereavement due to suicide
-Pet bereavement
-Miscarriage/IVF
Loss of identity;
-Chronic health conditions e.g. Lupus, RA, MS, Fibro etc
-New diagnosis, such as, adult-diagnosed ADHD
-Divorce, estrangement, retirement
-and any other losses you may be experiencing.
Practice description
I'm Kate from Blue Waves Counselling, a qualified and insured integrative therapist (Íø±¬ÃÅ) offering online and in-person sessions at the relaxing rooms in Sowton (a 3-minute drive from J29 of the M5, and a 2-minute walk from the park and ride).
Working from an integrative framework means I can draw from a range of modalities to uniquely tailor therapy to suit you and what you bring. In addition, I have completed an MSc in Psychology, a CBT diploma, and, alongside my own experiences of loss and life, I offer a unique perspective to sessions. I help you find a deeper understanding of yourself and heal from your loss. Grief and loss have no timeframe. We will work together to identify your emotions and how it is affecting you and find your new path.
My clients state that they feel lighter, sleep better, understand themselves better and can start to see their future more clearly. If you feel ready to go on this journey with me, please reach out for a free, no-obligation 15-minute phone call to see if I am the person for you.
Accepting new clients now.
Please reach out for availability and concessional rates for those with chronic health issues that impair your ability to earn.
My first session
I offer a free, no-obligation 15-minute phone call.
When working online, I use Zoom.
If you would like to meet in person, the beautiful room I use in Sowton is easily accessible with free parking, wheelchair accessibility (please state this on booking), and complimentary hot/cold drinks and snacks while you wait.
Your first session may induce some nerves, but the warm welcome I can provide will quickly put you at ease.
