About me and my therapy practice

My approach to counselling is Pluralistic, which means I see therapy as a collaborative process. We’ll explore what brings you to therapy, and through the use of your feedback and regular check-ins, find the way forward that feels right to you. Your voice matters and I will adapt as the therapeutic goals change.

I can help with feelings of anxiety, stress, or being weighed down by existential questions about yourself, your relationships, or the direction of your life. I aim to create a space where you can talk openly without judgement and feel truly heard. In addition to bringing practical tools, I prompt deeper exploration through curiosity and gentle challenge to further your insights. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, understood, and supported, with therapy shaped around what really matters to you.

My special interest in existential psychotherapy explores life’s bigger questions – meaning, choice, relationships, and how we connect to ourselves and the world. Together, we can explore these questions and see what new insights emerge for you.

Before becoming a counsellor, I worked as a climbing instructor and coach. In this I fostered patience, encouragement and an understanding that everyone’s experience of challenge is unique to them. My own experience of therapy, combined with those years of supporting others in challenging situations, inspired me to train as a counsellor. I hold an MSc in Pluralistic Counselling from Abertay University, and my ongoing learning includes a focus on existential psychotherapy.

I also recognize that as a straight, white, able-bodied man in my 30s, I hold privileges that not everyone shares. However, I am committed to listening, learning, and creating a space where all clients feel valued, heard, and respected, whatever their background or identity. My goal is to be an ally and to contribute to a more equitable world — starting with the therapeutic space we create together.

My first session

Our first session will take place online via Google Meet. It's a gentle starting point where we can talk about what you'd like to explore in therapy, consider how long you might want to work together, and see if it feels like a good fit for us both. I work in a flexible way, so we'll explore different approaches and find what feels most helpful for you.
