About me and my therapy practice

Welcome to my page!

My name is Karlie and I am a Professionally Qualified Counsellor, working with individuals aged 4+, in Northamptonshire within my private practice-  Connections Through Counselling UK.

As a counsellor I am able to offer you the space to explore your feelings, to help you reconnect with yourself, your story, and your inner strength.

I am primarily Person-Centred in my approach, which means I am not here to diagnose you, or 'fix' you, I don't give advice and I don't judge - instead I accept you fully for the unique individual that you are, offering you warmth, empathy where you can feel heard and accepted, and with a deep respect for your unique experience of the world. I believe that, in the right conditions, we all have the ability and capacity to grow and flourish, being the most authentic versions of ourselves, aiming for the life we want.

I can also work integratively, where I can offer support to you by offering various tools and resources.

In sessions I follow the lead of the client, some need and want space to reflect, and others want a more collaborative approach. Some clients have a clear goal in mind and want to work through, and others need help to make sense of what's going, making things clearer and more easy to manage. Both are completely welcome!

Depending on your preferences, we will mainly talk, although I can also work creatively, with resources that you may find helpful, such as mini exercises, journaling, and grounding techniques,  entirely your decision.

My style is very down-to-earth, relatable and relaxed, I use psychoeducation to help you understand yourself more, but ultimately it is important that you to feel comfortable with me.

I'm incredibly passionate about my role as a counsellor, understanding how it can change people’s lives, I value the connections I make with my clients, feeling privileged to be a part of the journey of self-discovery.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions/queries and I’ll be very happy to help.

My first session

I offer a free initial consultation, usually a phone call, to discuss what you're looking for in therapy, and your goals, what you hope to gain from it.

This is merely an informal conversation to help me gauge your expectations an for you to ask any questions. Phone calls usually last between 10-20 mins, depending on your needs and the complexity of what you need support with. This call is completely free and there is no pressure to commit to anything.

If you are satisfied, we can discuss a 50-minute introductory session, this is included within your sessions and charged at the discussed rare. We will explore and work through the contract to ensure both parties are satisfied, there will also be a little pre-counselling review to go through, another one will be filled in after the therapeutic journey has ended, this is to help me evaluate my services and to acknowledge any blind spots in my skillset. This session will give you the opportunity to experience my approach and how I work, and whether the space feel comfortable and supportive for you.
