About me and my therapy practice
I believe counselling is most powerful when it feels like a genuine human connection. I offer a safe, confidential, and supportive space where you can talk openly without fear of judgment, and where your story will be met with empathy, warmth, and respect. For me, the heart of therapy lies in the relationship we build together — a partnership where we work side by side to understand what you’re going through and explore the changes you’d like to see in your life.
My approach is person-centred, meaning your experiences and goals shape the direction of our sessions. I won’t come with ready-made answers, but instead I’ll listen closely, reflect with you, and help you to make sense of your thoughts and feelings. Together we can uncover patterns, explore different perspectives, and find ways forward that feel authentic and sustainable for you.
Every client is unique, so I adapt my way of working to fit your needs. While I draw on a range of therapeutic ideas where they may be helpful, my focus always remains on being present with you, working collaboratively, and offering a compassionate and non-judgmental space. Sessions move at your pace — whether you want to address a specific challenge, work through long-standing difficulties, or simply have the space to be heard and understood.
I have experience supporting people with a broad spectrum of mental health challenges, including trauma, relationship issues, grief and loss, addiction, anxiety, low mood, stress, self-esteem, and neurodiversity (such as ADHD and Autism). Whether you are facing an immediate difficulty or are seeking to better understand yourself, counselling can provide clarity, support, and the tools you need to create lasting and meaningful change.
Practice description
In our sessions, you can expect a safe, confidential space where you are listened to with empathy and without judgment. I place great importance on the therapeutic relationship — research and experience show that the trust, connection, and understanding between counsellor and client are at the heart of meaningful change.
My work is grounded in a holistic approach to mind, body, and spirit. I believe our emotional wellbeing is deeply connected to our physical health, lifestyle, and sense of purpose, and so I support you in exploring all aspects of your life that may be affecting how you feel. Together, we’ll work to make sense of what you’re going through, uncover patterns, and find ways forward that feel manageable and authentic to you.
If we’re meeting in person, sessions take place in a private, comfortable setting where you’ll have uninterrupted time to talk openly and reflect.
If we’re meeting online, we’ll connect via a secure video platform, so you can join from the comfort of your own home or a space where you feel safe. Online sessions follow the same structure as face-to-face meetings, with the same level of care, confidentiality, and support — offering flexibility and accessibility wherever you are.
I also offer walk-and-talk therapy, making use of the natural landscape surrounding my counselling space. Many clients find that being outdoors in nature creates a calming environment that makes it easier to reflect and talk freely.
My first session
The first counselling session is a chance for us to get to know one another and begin to understand what has brought you to therapy. We will explore the issues or concerns you would like support with as well as your expectations of counselling and what you hope to gain from the process. I’ll also take a brief history of your mental health and any significant experiences that may be relevant, so that we can begin to build a clear picture of your needs.
It’s important that you feel comfortable with the person you choose to work with. For this reason, I offer a free, no-obligation phone chat to potential new clients. This gives you an opportunity to ask questions, get a sense of how I work and decide if I feel like the right fit for you before committing to a session.
