About me and my therapy practice

When beginning counselling, I take time to contract with each client so that we are clear about what to expect from our work together. This includes agreeing boundaries, confidentiality, and session structure, ensuring you feel safe and fully informed from the start. I work in line with the 网爆门 Ethical Framework, which means I place your wellbeing at the heart of the process, working with integrity, respect, and a strong commitment to professional standards.

My approach is integrative, drawing on Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Psychodynamic modalities. This means I do not use a 鈥渙ne size fits all鈥 method, but adapt my way of working to your individual needs. At times we may focus on understanding and changing unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours; at other times, the work may involve exploring how past relationships and experiences are shaping your present. Throughout, the Person-Centred foundation ensures you are always at the centre of the process, with your voice, pace, and goals guiding the direction of our sessions.

Working therapeutically with you means creating a safe, non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and feel heard with empathy and understanding. Some clients find it helpful to develop practical coping strategies, while others value the opportunity to reflect more deeply and gain new insight into themselves. My role is to provide a supportive and professional environment where you can explore what matters most to you, feel empowered to make choices, and move toward meaningful and lasting change.

Practice description

Coming to counselling can feel like a big step, and it is important to know what to expect. My practice offers a safe, confidential, and supportive space where you can talk openly about what is going on for you without fear of judgement.

I work integratively, drawing on Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Psychodynamic approaches. This means I adapt the way I work to your individual needs rather than following a single model. At times this may involve exploring your current thoughts and feelings, identifying unhelpful patterns, or looking at how past experiences and relationships may be influencing your present. Together we can make sense of these experiences, build self-awareness, and develop tools that help you manage challenges more effectively.

I have worked with clients facing difficulties such as anxiety, depression, and the impact of domestic abuse. This has given me valuable insight into the different ways people experience distress, and I approach each client with sensitivity, compassion, and respect for their unique journey.

Clients can expect me to provide a safe and non-judgemental environment where they are listened to with care and empathy. I work collaboratively, meaning we set the pace and direction of sessions together, focusing on what feels most important to you. Some clients find it helpful to develop practical coping strategies, while others value the chance to reflect more deeply on past experiences or current emotions. My role is to support you in whichever way feels most useful, offering consistency, professionalism, and a therapeutic relationship that helps you feel understood and supported.

Whether you are experiencing anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, loss, or a sense of being stuck, my aim is to help you find clarity, resilience, and a stronger sense of self as you move toward positive change.

My first session

I recommend that our first session lasts 90 minutes, as this allows up to 30 minutes for an initial assessment to understand your situation, needs, and goals. Of course, we can adjust this if you prefer a different arrangement. The session is an opportunity to focus on you鈥攜our experiences, your needs, and what you hope to achieve from counselling鈥攁t a pace that feels comfortable. You don鈥檛 need to share everything at once; this session is about creating a safe, supportive space where you feel truly heard.

We will also discuss the counselling contract, including confidentiality, boundaries, and what you can expect from me. To start, I might ask: 鈥淗ow would you like to begin today so that you feel most supported?鈥 This ensures the session is tailored to your needs and that you feel informed and in control. You are welcome to ask questions or raise any concerns at any time.

I work with warmth, empathy, and professionalism, drawing on an integrative approach that combines Person-Centred, CBT, and Psychodynamic methods. This allows me to adapt the sessions to your needs, whether that involves exploring emotions, understanding patterns, or developing practical strategies for coping.

By the end of the session, my aim is for you to feel understood, respected, and hopeful about the positive changes you can make. Together, we will create a strong foundation of trust and safety, empowering you to reflect, heal, and grow at your own pace.
