About me and my therapy practice

I work in an integrative way, drawing on Transactional Analysis, Gestalt therapy, and Person-Centred counselling. I tailor my approach to each client, recognising that no single model fits everyone. Each client is unique and uses different ways of exploring their experiences.

From a Person Centred perspective, I offer warmth, empathy, and acceptance, creating a safe and non-judgemental space where you can bring whatever is on your mind. Collaboratively, we can build a relationship that supports your natural capacity for growth and change.

With Transactional Analysis, I can help you notice patterns in how you relate to yourself and others. By exploring your 鈥渆go states鈥 (Parent, Adult, Child) and recurring life scripts, TA provides a practical framework for understanding behaviours, communication, and emotional responses. This awareness can open the door to a better understanding of self, a change in unhelpful patterns and behaviours and more balanced relationships.

Through a Gestalt approach, I focus on the 'here and now,' paying attention to your present experience in the therapy room, including thoughts, feelings, sensations, and body awareness. Gestalt encourages creativity and experimentation, helping you to connect more fully with yourself and uncover insights that may not be accessible through words alone.

Together, these approaches enable me to tailor my support to your specific needs, whether you wish to reflect on past experiences, address current challenges, enhance your relationships, or cultivate self-awareness by creating a space for genuine connection and understanding.

Practice description

I work from a private garden therapy room, surrounded by nature, offering a calm and confidential space where you can feel safe. Large windows look out onto greenery, letting in natural light and creating a gentle connection to the outdoors.

Being in this setting often brings a sense of peace and grounding. Clients often find that the presence of trees, plants, and fresh air helps them slow down, reflect, and feel more at ease in our time together. In warmer weather, sessions can also incorporate the outdoor space if that feels right for you.

My therapy room is comfortable, welcoming, and designed to give you the space to pause, explore, and reconnect with yourself in a natural, tranquil environment.

My first session

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it鈥檚 natural to feel nervous. The first session is about getting to know each other, seeing if we are a good fit and giving you a sense of how we might work together.

We鈥檒l begin with a gentle check-in, where I explain how therapy works, including things like confidentiality and practical details. You鈥檒l have the chance to ask any questions so you feel comfortable and informed.

From there, I鈥檒l invite you to share what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain. There鈥檚 no pressure to go into detail before you鈥檙e ready. You set the pace, and I鈥檒l listen carefully.

We might talk a little about your background, the challenges you鈥檙e facing, and what feels most important to you right now. Together we鈥檒l start to think about how therapy could help, and what you鈥檇 like to focus on in future sessions.

The first session isn鈥檛 about having all the answers, it鈥檚 about creating a safe, supportive space where you can begin your journey.
