About me and my therapy practice
As an integrative therapist this means I draw from a range of therapeutic models to tailor the work to each individual client. It’s not simply a mix-and-match of techniques, but a thoughtful blending of well-established theories from the world of talking therapies, grounded in evidence and practice.
My approach is informed by three core modalities. Gestalt therapy places emphasis on present-moment awareness and encourages exploration of your experience as a whole - mind, body, and emotion. Psychodynamic therapy invites us to look beneath the surface, considering how past experiences and unconscious patterns may be influencing your current thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) offers practical ways to identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, supporting change in how you relate to yourself and the world around you. These modalities are integrated thoughtfully, depending on what best supports your needs.
Practice description
I offer support to adults aged 18 and over, both in-person across South Birmingham and Solihull, as well as online throughout the UK.
Counselling and psychotherapy are not about giving advice, telling you what to do, or offering quick fixes. They don’t provide instant solutions. Therapy is not about someone else solving your problems, nor is it a place for judgment or criticism. Instead, it’s a collaborative process that encourages self-exploration, personal growth, and finding your own path to wellbeing with professional support.
At the beginning of our work together, we’ll discuss what brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping to achieve, and any concerns or questions you want to raise. These sessions are designed to be gentle and unhurried, giving you the freedom to share as much or as little as feels right for you.
My first session
After an initial phone conversation, we’ll schedule an appointment to properly introduce ourselves and begin the process, followed by an initial assessment of the presenting issues and goals for therapy. Sessions can be held online or in person. If mutually agreed to continue, a therapy session will be booked and you’re on your way. Each session will be booked for 50 minutes at the same time and place for a fixed duration. This duration is flexible ranging from six weeks to longer term work with review sessions discussed and agreed in advance.
