About me and my therapy practice

I’m a Íø±¬ÃÅ-registered trauma counsellor based in Botley, Southampton (SO30). I provide trauma counselling with a special focus on attachment and relational trauma, and how early experiences shape the way we live and love. Many of the people I work with feel stuck in patterns like people-pleasing, anxiety, self-doubt, or shutdown, without fully understanding why. They long for something to change but don’t know where to begin.

My passion for this work comes from a belief that healing happens through safe, steady connection. I know how difficult it can feel to trust when life has taught you to protect yourself. That’s why I offer a calm, collaborative space where you’re met with warmth, honesty, and respect.

I have experience supporting people through attachment wounds, domestic abuse, women’s and men’s issues, and addiction. My approach blends Humanistic and Person-Centred values with trauma-focused frameworks, drawing on Polyvagal Theory and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). This work isn’t about quick fixes or retelling trauma, it’s about gently exploring patterns, building emotional and nervous system safety, and supporting lasting change.

You set the pace. I walk alongside you with curiosity and compassion as we create space for self-understanding, self-trust, and reconnection.

Practice description

Counselling with me is a steady, collaborative process focused on long-term healing. My approach is trauma-informed and attachment-focused, integrating Person-Centred counselling with insights from Polyvagal Theory and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). This means we will explore not just your thoughts and emotions, but how your body and nervous system have adapted to help you survive.

We begin with emotional and relational safety, creating a space where you can feel grounded, supported, and never rushed. This work isn’t about reliving trauma, it’s about understanding what is beneath the surface: the protective strategies, emotional blocks, and relational patterns that made sense once, but may now be holding you back.

I ask new clients to commit to an initial block of six sessions to create a stable foundation for the work. We move at your pace, with full respect for your nervous system’s capacity and boundaries. For most people, this is long-term work to allow a deeper investment in sustainable change and self-trust.

I support clients dealing with trauma, anxiety, relationship issues, domestic abuse, addiction, and low self-worth. I work with both men and women and have extensive experience with clients navigating the long-term impact of childhood or relational trauma.

Sessions are available online or in person (Fridays 10am to 2pm only) from a private, safe space in Botley, within easy reach of Southampton, Fareham, Hedge End and surrounding areas. A free 15-minute consultation is offered to help us see whether we’re a good fit.

My first session

Starting counselling can feel like a big step, especially if trust or emotional safety have been hard to come by. That’s why the first session is designed to help you feel steady and supported.

Before we meet, I offer a free 15-minute consultation by Zoom or phone so you can ask any questions and get a feel for how I work.

I don’t use formal assessments or checklists. My approach is relational and gentle, we begin with what matters most to you right now. There’s no pressure to dive into painful detail or share everything at once. Instead, we take time to build trust, explore what brings you to therapy, and talk about what helps you feel safe and grounded.

Before the first session, I will send you a counselling agreement that outlines how I work, your rights, and practical details. In our first session, we begin to shape the foundation of the work by clarifying your hopes, needs, and pace. I will also share more about my approach so you feel informed and empowered.

The first session isn’t about getting everything "right", it’s about beginning a process of connection and discovery, in a way that honours your nervous system, your boundaries, and your story.
