About me and my therapy practice
I’m a trauma-informed counsellor with a special focus on attachment, relational trauma, and how our early experiences shape the way we live and love. Many of my clients come to me feeling stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand, like people-pleasing, anxiety, self-doubt, or repeating painful relationships, while longing for change.
My passion for this work comes from a belief that healing happens in safe connection. I know how hard it can feel to trust when life has taught you to protect yourself. That’s why I offer a calm, collaborative space where you’re met with warmth, honesty, and acceptance.
I have experience supporting people through attachment wounds, domestic abuse, women’s issues, men's issues and addiction. My approach combines Humanistic and Person-Centred values with trauma-focused frameworks, drawing on Polyvagal Theory and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). This means our work is not about quick fixes or retelling trauma, but about gently understanding patterns, calming your nervous system, and creating new ways of relating to yourself and others.
You set the pace. My role is to walk alongside you with curiosity and compassion, helping you build safety, resilience, and a stronger sense of self.
Practice description
Counselling with me is a collaborative and grounded process, focused on long-term healing and lasting change. My approach is trauma-informed and attachment-focused, integrating Person-Centred counselling with insights from Polyvagal Theory and EFIT. This allows us to explore not only your thoughts and feelings but also how past experiences show up in your nervous system and relationships today.
Our work begins with safety and trust, creating a space where you can feel steady and heard without judgment. This isn’t about reliving trauma but about gently understanding the patterns, survival strategies, and emotional blocks that have helped you cope and now might be holding you back.
I ask new clients to commit to an initial block of six sessions. This provides stability and containment, essential for trauma work. We will move at a pace that feels manageable and honours your nervous system’s capacity. For most people, this is long-term work, an investment in deep, sustainable change.
If you are seeking support for attachment wounds, relational trauma, domestic abuse, women’s issues, men's issues or addiction, I offer a safe and compassionate space to help you move beyond survival and towards a stronger, more connected sense of self.
Sessions are available online or in person in Emsworth and surrounding areas such as Portsmouth, Waterlooville, Chichester, Havant and others. A free 15-minute consultation is available to start and see how we might work together.
My first session
Starting counselling can feel like a big step, so the first session is designed to help you feel safe and supported. Before this, I offer a brief consultation on Zoom, so you can ask questions and decide if we’re the right fit.
I don’t use a formal assessment or checklist. Instead, I take a relational and gentle approach, beginning with what feels important to you right now. There’s no pressure to share everything at once or to retell traumatic experiences in detail.
Before the session, I’ll send you a counselling agreement that explains how I work and what to expect. In the first session, we will talk about what brings you to counselling, your hopes for the work, and what helps you feel safe and grounded. I will also share more about my approach so you feel clear and comfortable about the process.
The first session is the foundation for everything that follows. It’s about creating a steady, collaborative relationship, building trust, and setting a pace that feels right for you.
