About me and my therapy practice

I am a Íø±¬ÃÅ-registered psychodynamic therapist, working in-person and online from Walthamstow, E17. I hold a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and also have experience of providing support to adults who are grieving, through charities and community groups.

I am able to work with individuals on a broad range of presenting issues, as outlined below, but I am especially passionate about supporting those experiencing grief, loss or bereavement.

Grief is not just experienced when a bereavement occurs; each phase of our lives can involve endings or separations which may bring feelings of grief. I can support you as you go through these changes and help you to find a way forward in which you can integrate these experiences into your sense of self.

My approach to therapy is psychodynamic, which means that the focus of our work is to try and access unacknowledged feelings and beliefs which may be influencing your conscious thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Perhaps you feel like you're stuck in a cycle, repeating patterns of behaviour or relationships, and perhaps feeling out of control. Psychodynamic therapy can help uncover what may lie behind these patterns and can help you feel more in control of your life.

Practice description

Psychodynamic therapy is non-directive, which means that each session is led by you and we discuss whatever is on your mind that day, in that moment. As we talk, we will identify links between your past experiences and relationships, and what is happening currently in your life.

Bringing dreams to therapy can be a great way to begin to access feelings or aspects of yourself which are hard to acknowledge. Together we can explore the images and feelings evoked by the dream and relate these to your waking life.

My first session

I offer a free, 15-minute phone call to discuss how we might work together and if I am well placed to support you at this point. If we agree to begin therapy and find a day/time to meet regularly, I will send a short online form via email to capture some basic details before we meet.

It can be difficult to know where to start in your first therapy session, particularly if this is your first experience of therapy or you are returning after a long break. My starting point with all clients - whether new or existing - is compassion. I will usually begin by asking me to tell me about yourself, and you can start wherever feels most relevant for you. Whatever your past experiences or current life circumstances, I aim to offer a safe, collaborative space where you can come to know yourself better.

I know that reaching out and asking for support can be so difficult, so I take the trust you place in me very seriously.
