About me and my therapy practice

I鈥檓 Jo, a qualified therapeutic counsellor offering counselling for adults (18+) who are navigating the challenges of perimenopause, menopause, and hormonal health.

This stage of life can bring unexpected changes, such as mood swings, anxiety, low self-worth, brain fog, sleep difficulties, and shifts in relationships. Many women feel unseen or dismissed, even when they鈥檝e sought professional help. Therapy with me provides a safe, affirming space to be heard, validated, and supported as you move through these transitions.

My approach is person-centred and trauma-informed, which means we鈥檒l work at your pace, focusing on what matters most to you. I draw on attachment theory, relational work, and psychoeducation alongside this foundation. For many clients, simply having language and understanding around the impact of hormones is empowering and reduces the sense of isolation.

I understand how hormonal changes can resurface old wounds, affect confidence, and sometimes feel overwhelming. Together, we can explore what鈥檚 happening for you, build tools for emotional resilience, and reconnect with your sense of identity and self-worth.

Counselling is not about 鈥渇ixing鈥 you. It鈥檚 about creating a space where you are understood, supported, and able to understand what you鈥檙e experiencing, without judgement.

You don鈥檛 have to go through this alone.

Practice description

I offer one-to-one counselling for women experiencing perimenopause and menopause, both in-person (Banbury, Oxfordshire) and online across the UK.

Sessions provide space to explore the emotional, relational, and identity shifts often associated with hormonal change. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, shame, loss of confidence, difficulties in relationships, or simply a sense of not feeling like yourself, therapy can help you find clarity and grounding.

My Banbury practice is calm, private, and thoughtfully designed for reflection. I use a secure platform that offers flexibility and accessibility for those who prefer online sessions.

Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly. Some women choose short-term work to focus on a particular issue, while others prefer longer-term therapy to explore broader life transitions. You鈥檙e welcome to decide what feels right for you.

My first session

Your first session is a gentle space to test the waters and see if I鈥檓 a good fit for you. Many women come to me feeling overlooked or dismissed around perimenopause, by systems, by others, sometimes by themselves. Here, you鈥檒l be believed, listened to, and never rushed.

Before we meet, I鈥檒l email a short intake form and client agreement so you know exactly how I work (confidentiality, payment, cancellations). You鈥檙e welcome to share as much or as little as you like in advance, but some clients prefer to arrive and talk it through in the session.

In the session (50 minutes, 拢65), we鈥檒l go at your pace. There鈥檚 no obligation to continue. You can tell me what鈥檚 bringing you, perhaps anxiety, low mood, 鈥渘ot feeling like myself,鈥 sleep changes, brain fog, shifts in identity or relationships, and what you鈥檙e hoping for from therapy. If it helps, we can weave in simple psychoeducation about hormones so that what you鈥檙e experiencing starts to make more sense.

I don鈥檛 use formal assessments in the first session. My priority is to offer a calm, validating space and get a feel for the most helpful support right now. If it feels right to continue, we鈥檒l agree on a regular weekly time (in-person or online). If I believe another service suits you better, I鈥檒l be honest and help with signposting.

You don鈥檛 need to have the right words or a tidy story. Come exactly as you are. We鈥檒l take it one step at a time.

About me and my therapy practice

I鈥檓 Jo, a qualified therapeutic counsellor offering neurodivergent-affirming counselling for adults (18+).

Many of the people I work with are exploring or living with ADHD or autism, whether newly diagnosed, self-identified, or still figuring it out. Some come to therapy feeling burnt out from years of masking, misunderstood in relationships, or disconnected from their sense of self. Others are navigating late diagnosis, identity shifts, or the overlap of neurodivergence with anxiety, trauma, or hormonal changes.

My approach is person-centred and trauma-informed, which means therapy moves at your pace. You don鈥檛 need to mask here, and you don鈥檛 need to explain every detail. All ways of being, stimming, info-dumping, needing quiet, asking for clarity are welcome.

I draw on attachment theory, relational work, and psychoeducation alongside this foundation. Together, we can explore how your experiences have shaped you, develop tools to reduce overwhelm, and reconnect with your authentic self.

You are not broken, and you don鈥檛 need to be 鈥渇ixed.鈥 Therapy here is about being seen, validated, and supported exactly as you are.

Practice description

I offer one-to-one counselling for neurodivergent adults in-person (Banbury, Oxfordshire) and online across the UK.

Therapy may be a good fit for you if you:

Feel exhausted from masking or 鈥渇itting in鈥

You are experiencing anxiety, shame, or burnout

You are exploring an ADHD or autism diagnosis (formal or self-diagnosis)

You struggle with self-esteem, identity, or relationships

You want a space where you can be completely yourself without judgment

My Banbury practice is private, calm, and ND-friendly. For those who prefer online sessions, I use a secure platform that can be adapted to your needs (e.g., cameras on/off, screen-sharing, flexible breaks).

Sessions are 50 minutes long and usually take place weekly. You can choose short-term or longer-term work, depending on what feels right.

If you鈥檝e felt unseen, dismissed, or 鈥渢oo much鈥 elsewhere, this is a space where you can show up just as you are.

My first session

Your first session is a space to experience how working together feels. Many ND clients tell me they鈥檝e had past experiences of not being understood or of having to mask. In this space, you don鈥檛 need to do that.

Before we meet, I鈥檒l send you a short intake form and client agreement. These give you a chance to share any key info upfront if that feels easier, and they explain how I work around confidentiality, payment, and cancellations.

The first session is 50 minutes (拢65), and there鈥檚 no pressure to continue. Some people like to bring a list of thoughts or questions, while others prefer to talk freely or even sit quietly. All are welcome.

I don鈥檛 use formal assessments. Instead, we go at your pace. If you need me to slow down, repeat, or give space for processing, just let me know. If it feels right to continue, we鈥檒l agree on a regular weekly time, either in person or online.

This is your space. You can stim, info-dump, use visual aids, or just simply be.

About me and my therapy practice

I鈥檓 Jo, a qualified therapeutic counsellor offering online counselling for adults (18+) across the UK.

Many of my clients choose online therapy because it fits more easily into their lives. Online therapy can provide the same depth and connection as in-person sessions, whether it鈥檚 because of distance, mobility, caring responsibilities, work patterns, or simply the comfort of being at home.

I work in a trauma-informed, person-centred way, which means our sessions move at your pace and focus on what matters most to you. I also draw on attachment theory, relational work, and psychoeducation when helpful. Clients often tell me that online therapy feels surprisingly personal, especially when they can settle into a familiar space with a cup of tea, a blanket, or even their pet nearby.

My work often supports people navigating anxiety, burnout, low self-worth, trauma, perimenopause, and neurodivergence. I also work with those experiencing life transitions, identity shifts, or simply a desire to reconnect with themselves.

With secure video sessions, you don鈥檛 need to travel or factor in extra time around appointments; all you need is a private space and an internet connection.

Practice description

I offer one-to-one online counselling for adults via a secure, encrypted video platform.

Online therapy may be a good fit for you if you:

Prefer the comfort and privacy of your own home

Have mobility issues, chronic illness, or caring responsibilities

Live in a rural area or away from Oxfordshire, but want to work with me

Feel more at ease connecting from your own environment

Want the flexibility of fitting therapy around work or family life

Sessions last 50 minutes, usually weekly, and cost 拢65. Depending on your needs, we can work short-term or longer-term.

Many clients are surprised by how safe and personal online therapy can feel, and some prefer it after trying both online and in-person therapy. We鈥檒l always check in to see what works best for you.

My first session

Your first session is a chance to meet online and experience it. Many people wonder if online therapy will 鈥渨ork鈥, whether it will feel personal, safe, or connected. Often, clients are pleasantly surprised at how natural it feels once we begin.

Before we meet, I鈥檒l email a short intake form and client agreement, so you know what to expect. The session is 50 minutes (拢65) and there鈥檚 no pressure to continue if it doesn鈥檛 feel right.

All you鈥檒l need is a private space, a device with a camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection. You鈥檙e welcome to make yourself comfortable. Some clients sit at a desk, some curl up on the sofa, and some bring a pet into the room. It鈥檚 your space, your way.

I don鈥檛 use formal assessments in the first session. Instead, I focus on listening and understanding what鈥檚 bringing you to therapy, whether it鈥檚 anxiety, trauma, burnout, identity, or something else.

If you decide to continue, we鈥檒l agree on a regular weekly time for online sessions. If you ever want to switch to in-person sessions in Banbury, that鈥檚 an option, too.

About me and my therapy practice

I鈥檓 Jo, a qualified therapeutic counsellor offering trauma-informed, neuro-affirming counselling for adults (18+). I work online and in person from private offices in Banbury and Culworth, depending on what feels most comfortable for you.

My practice is grounded in person-centred values: I work at your pace, holding space with empathy, safety, and respect. While this forms the foundation of my work, I also draw from other therapeutic approaches when helpful, including attachment theory, which focuses on the importance of early relationships, psychoeducation, which provides information to help you understand your experiences, and relational ways of working, which emphasises the therapeutic relationship. Therapy should adapt to fit you, not the other way around.

Many of the people I support are navigating anxiety, low self-worth, burnout, trauma, or life transitions. Some are reconnecting with parts of themselves they鈥檝e hidden or silenced. Others are processing the emotional impact of perimenopause or exploring late-diagnosed neurodivergence. My work often involves gently exploring how the past might appear in the present, while building tools to support emotional resilience and reconnection with self.

As a neurodivergent-affirming therapist, I welcome and respect all ways of thinking, feeling, sensing, and being. Whether you鈥檙e neurodivergent or exploring that possibility, you鈥檒l be met with openness and care. You don鈥檛 need to mask here, and you don鈥檛 need to explain everything. Your unique self is already enough.

Counselling isn鈥檛 about fixing you. It鈥檚 about creating a safe and supportive space where you can be seen, heard, and understood without judgment, just as you are.

Please feel free to get in touch if you'd like to learn more or explore working together.

Practice description

I offer one-to-one counselling for adults (18+) in person and online. My services cover a wide range of issues, including anxiety, trauma, shame, burnout, and identity. I currently practise from Banbury town centre (The Manse, South Bar Street) and a quieter space in the village of Culworth. Both locations are calm, private, and thoughtfully designed to offer a welcoming space for reflection and connection. Please note that my Banbury office is on the first floor and accessed by stairs.

I also offer online therapy via a secure video platform for clients across the UK. Some clients prefer online sessions for ease or accessibility, while others choose in-person or a blend of both. You鈥檙e welcome to explore what works best for you. We can discuss your preferences and needs during our initial session to determine the most suitable mode of therapy for you.

With a commitment to your mental health journey, sessions are 50 minutes long and take place weekly at a regular time. Depending on your needs and goals, I offer both short-term and longer-term work. Payment is needed in advance via card or bank transfer to secure your session, and cancellation and payment terms are outlined on my website.

My practice may be a good fit for you if you鈥檙e looking for a warm, affirming space to explore anxiety, trauma, shame, burnout, or identity. I work well with clients who feel different, stuck, or disconnected, whether due to neurodivergence, cultural identity, hormonal shifts, or past experiences. If you鈥檙e navigating a time of change or reflection, or want space to understand yourself better, you鈥檙e very welcome here.

If you're unsure where to begin, that鈥檚 okay. We can take it step by step. You're not expected to have it all figured out; you're just invited to show up as you are.

My first session

Your first session is a crucial step in our therapeutic journey. It's an opportunity for you to take the lead, to share your story, understand your needs, and see if we're a good fit. Reaching out for support can be a big step, and I aim to make this process as gentle and straightforward as possible, empowering you in your healing journey.

Before your first session, I鈥檒l email you a short intake form and client agreement. These documents are designed to give you a chance to share any key information in advance, which will help me understand your needs better. They also outline my terms around payment, confidentiality, and cancellations, ensuring we are on the same page from the start. You're welcome to ask questions about either before we begin.

The first session is charged at my standard rate of 拢65 for 50 minutes. There's no obligation to continue, some clients know quickly that it feels right, while others want time to think, and that鈥檚 fine. I want to emphasise that there鈥檚 no pressure from me to decide during or after the session. Your comfort and readiness are the most important factors in our therapeutic journey.

You don鈥檛 need to prepare anything beyond the initial form. The session is a space for you to share a little about what brings you to therapy, what you'd like support with (if you know), and to ask any questions about how I work. You鈥檙e welcome to go at your own pace, and there鈥檚 no expectation to disclose everything immediately. We can take our time to build trust and connection.

In the first session, I don鈥檛 use formal assessments. Instead, I focus on creating a safe, grounded space where you feel heard. I may offer gentle reflections, but my main role is to listen with care and curiosity, and to understand your unique perspective and needs.

If it feels right to continue, we鈥檒l agree on a regular weekly time. If I believe another service might better meet your needs, I鈥檒l always let you know and help signpost you.
